Kansas Rep. Sharice Davids Quick Update

Hope you’re well! It’s important to me that we stay connected however we can. So today, I wanted to give you a quick update on what I’ve been up to.

Pushing for Gun Safety

Like so many folks, I remain heart sick over what happened recently in Texas and Ohio, and the tragic gun violence we’re seeing in our own community. I’m continuing to push for common sense and bipartisan legislation to prevent gun violence.

That’s why I joined with my House colleagues to urge the Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, to immediately hold a vote on gun safety legislation.

My colleagues and I in the House passed H.R. 8 - a bill to ensure universal background checks - 175 days ago. There can’t be any more excuses. It’s time we do something to keep our families and children safe.

I know this is a personal issue that impacts far too many families throughout Kansas and our country. That's why I'm also holding a Gun Safety Roundtable on Saturday, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Matt Ross Community Center in Overland Park, to discuss what we can do as a community to address this public health crisis.

Serving Our Veterans

My mother served in the U.S. Army for twenty years. I learned so much about service, sacrifice, and dedication to country through her. After all that our Servicemembers and Veterans have done for us, we must have their backs.

That’s why my office recently held two events to connect area Veterans with the resources and assistance they’ve earned.

At our Veterans Appreciation Event in Gardner, I was glad to meet with local Veterans at the American Legion LeRoy Hill Post 19. It was great to hear their concerns and learn more about the issues they were facing. Our team and representatives from the VA were also available to help folks with issues like backlogged benefits.

Later we held a Veteran-Owned Business Roundtable in Lenexa. As a member of the U.S. House Small Business Committee, this was a great opportunity to hear directly from local Veterans about the challenges they face.

Our team is always here to help Kansas Veterans however we can. That includes assistance with benefits, health care, and more.

Please call our Overland Park office at (913) 621-0832 or our Kansas City office at (913) 766-3993 to get help right away, or click to visit my website to learn more.

Staying Connected with Kansans

Whenever I’m back at home, it’s very important to me that I meet with folks and get out in our community. Listening to you, learning more about your experiences, and bringing your voices to Washington helps me do a better job.

That’s why I was so glad to have my latest #SharicesShift at Jones BBQ. Through #SharicesShift, I’ve been lucky to get a firsthand look at the opportunities and challenges our local businesses and workers face.

At Jones BBQ, Co-owner and pitmaster Debbie Jones showed me tricks of the trade and put me to work making orders. I enjoyed chatting with customers and learning more about this exciting small business.

And as I keep working to lower health care costs and expand coverage, I’ve made it a priority to check-in with some of our local health providers. Recently, I was glad to visit with both the University of Kansas Hospital and the AdventHealth South Overland Park campus.

It’s a great privilege and a joy to serve you in the House of Representatives. It’s my job to serve you, so please feel free to contact me about anything that’s on your mind.

My warmest regards,

Sharice L. Davids
Member of Congress

So she's telling doc's they should give up their McMansions, Yachts, Vacation Homes, Lamborghini's and Porches?

  6. It's not a gun control issue, it's a culture issue. The rep is just talking the "party line". Tackling a culture in decline is a little more than she's going to be able to do. Or even admit that it's the problem and there are no easy answers.

  7. She's a member of the U.S.House Small Business Committee. Does she advise on how to avoid loan default? Or, how about, tips on brewing a good tasting coffee?

  8. ^^^ She's advises government clients how to not bankrupt a casino. 6 times.

  13. Damn this woman is clueless about just about everything but she thinks showing up here and there in public will promote her. All she is doing is showing the voters what a real idiot she really is. I bet that Vet left saying, "I've always wondered what it was like to shake the hand of a gay woman. But I'll never vote for her because her heros killed members of my family."

  14. Gee! Yet she's still in Congress and you're shit posting shit on TKC from your rusted out trailer. Weird.

  19. I think the first three posts are the same person within three minutes of the first post.
My question is in response to those posts....Where are the Indivisible movement THUGS? Why aren't they disrupting her meetings with constituents like they did Yoder's? I think it just proves the thugs were out in force against Yoder and never let him hold a meeting. Now they claim he never did, which is false.
Right out their handbook to criminally violate of the First Amendment protecting free speech. They violated Congressman Yoder's ability to speak freely.
Thugs and criminals support this congresswoman. No more identity politics!
