Kansas City 'Queer Eye' Chicana Clip

Curiosity forced TKC to watch this "Queer Eye" episode on the Internets and cringe all the way . . .

Public TV found a way to make it even more eye-roll worthy with an otra vez mini-documentary about the makeover . . . On the bright side and speaking of a transforatmion that doesn't really change inherent faults, Taco Bell recently opened a hotel in Palm Springs. But I digress . . .

Here's the narrative which encapsulates progressive talking points and branding disguised as content:

"Deanna Munoz talks about her arts foundation, its impact on Latinx youth and the experience of being part of Queer Eye in Kansas City."

Fact check, there's no such thing as "Latinx" -- It's a rumor started by some East Coast white lady college professor in the middle of a Franzia-inspired bender. Forgive the second digression . . .

Now, take a look at "Chicana" content that's more current than Cheech & Chong's Next Movie but certainly not as authentic . . . Checkit:

Hopefully, more for the morning update . . . STAY TUNED!!!

  1. A gem pulled from all this babble:

"Mexican Americans don't like to just get into gang fights / They like flowers and music and white girls named Debbie too."

Look closely at one of the clips and you'll see KC-native actress Edie McClurg.

The lowrider show this organization puts on is pretty cool.

  6. Still a fan of Tommy Chong's composition...
    "Beaners do-do-do-do-dodo
    Beaners do-do-do-do-dodo
    Beaners do-do-do-do-dodo
    (repeat)"

  8. 6:44 +1000! Thanks for a great laugh!!!

6:58: It's on Netflix. I'm not crazy about it, but it is local this year. The guy who does the food is cute; the others I'd pass on (not that they'd be interested anyway).

  11. Where's the diversity? Not a single queer Inuit in the group. They must hate gay Eskimos.
