Gunned Down In Kansas City Crossroads: Vigil Remembers Erin Langhofer

Many local online critics object to the efficacy of homicide vigils as a way to facilitate change on the streets of the inner city . . . Now the Summer tradition of KCMO homicide vigils extends to a suburban faith community.

  1. Now let's have some biographical information about the piece of crap who shot her. I will be surprised if it's not the usual story: welfare mom, absent dad, school dropout, long history of trouble. Whack him now and let the world's average IQ go up a tic.

  2. The murder of this young lady is beyond tragic. What a promising life snuffed out much too soon. Working in a job that helped others and obviously loved by many. Condolences to her family and friends.
The dirtbag that fired the gun should be on death row ASAP and executed in a timely fashion. The ridiculous years of appeals, stays, etc are one reason this element of society has become as brazen as they are. People weren’t as quick to kill others when they knew they themselves would be hanging in the town square within days.

  3. I feel so sorry for this young woman and her family and friends. The response seems to be hold a vigil release some balloons, light candles and stand in a circle. And nothing changes, ever. Punks with guns will continue to take innocent lives. Their families will not break the "No Snitching" code. They will take care of the shooter themselves. Bang, bang, bang, and it never ends. Arming yourself does not protect you from the random gunfire. Having cops around does not stop it. You just hope you're not in the wrong place at the wrong time.

  4. Maybe those businesses should hire the latter day equivalent of the Pinkertons.
It's always bad policy if your customers fear being killed.

  5. Agree with the above mentioned poster ! If these businesses and food trucks wanted to stay in business , y'all pitch in and hire a private security group , armed and don't put up with any shit from the diversity chumps that want to raise trouble !¡! A few busted nuts and teardowns , all legal , with arrests by the great KCMO COPS , Will put a stop to the gang banger's !¡!¡

  6. 83 Homicides this year and only one press conference about it hmmm. Unfortunatley this killing has political consequences aparently. Sad for the family and the young woman who lost her life, and the moron who at 18 ruined the rest of his, but at the end of the day the local government could give less than 5 shits unless it somehow effects them directly. Homicides in this town have always been at epidemic levels, why now do they hold the only press conference in my 20 years I have ever seen on this while living here? New mayor shit I guess? And unrelated, Quinton looks like the shortest Mayor I think this city has ever seen, which makes no difference, just pointing that out.

  7. We need a prosecutor in this city who doesnt smile and laugh about anything while attending a Press Conference about something so serious!! WE NEED A HARDBALL PROSECUTOR!!, which wont fix everything, but it would be a damn good start! Thugs in this town don't fear the law here!!

  8. ^^^ Rainbow Cops and fairy Firefighters in this city is also the problem- They and their Unions all vote left, and because Byron and his lefty buddies still suck warm milk off their moms titty, unfortunatley tradgedies like this is what you get. I will say good job though to the 2 cops that captured the guy that killed the young lady in the crossroads, which actually would prove not all cops are bad. and that not all cops are rasist, considering the two cops were black and the guy they put the bust on was also black.

  9. This family set the gold standard for being an awesome family raising wonderful contributers to society. They are above the call to frontier justice to get this punk and hang his sorry ass. Why this kid did what he did is deep and complicated. However, facts are facts. To my black friends so sorry for the fallout, but dress and act like a gangbanger ur ass is going down. God gave us a brain to process information with our eyes and render judgement except most of us pussy out on the action part after judgement because of the fear of being labeled a rascist. And so the killings continue.

    1. 4:56am Gold standard? Really? Why? She is White and goes to church? Have you been to a church lately... one of the messiest places on earth. Its not alm rainbows and butterflies.

  10. First, the perpetrator didnt intend to kill the suburbanite. It was an accidental shooting. The boy got into a fight with another guy and started shooting. His intended target was not hurt. Instead, he hurt someone unrelated to the fight...a bystander. Those two White boys totally intended to kill any and everybody. This girl was not sought after, hunted and gunned down... she was struck by a stray bullet. While the result is the same, the motive is not. Lets just be clear on that.

    1. 6:10 -- You're saying the black boy couldn't get the job done as he intended, while the white boys got their intended missions accomplished. WTF?! The motives for all 3 of those shooters is contemptible. They INTENDED TO SERIOUSLY HARM OTHERS!! VERY SERIOUSLY....AS IN, FATALLY!!

One death, or one hundred deaths....whether by careful aim or a stray bullet, MOTIVE ain't making the dead ANY LESS DEAD!!

And that's why he's charged with "Second Degree Murder" insead of "First Degree Murder". His intent, and his lack of marksmanship skills

  11. I find it inadequate to express my sympathy to the young woman's family. Such a senseless and horrific act. I pray that your grief will be lifted from your shoulders and the full weight of justice will be brought to bear on her killer.

  12. Her death is another sad reminder that the President has failed to keep his promise to end the carnage in our country.

  14. This is the most horrific murder I can think of in Kansas City. If you want to be political or talk about other shootings go do it in another thread. This is one of the worst things I can remember happening in our city in a long time

  15. Motive doesn't matter, if you murder someone you murder someone. I do often wonder if punk kids know that if you fire up into the air it can and does come down and kill people. I think gangbangers aren't aware of this. I don't know if this kid was a gangbanger but just making an observation.
