Freebie Kansas City Bus: Good Idea?!?!

A bold plan to make all KCMO residents just as privileged as the streetcar crowd.

The behind the scenes on this story is that that dude in charge is confronting major political pushback behind the scenes from those who are still upset about the antics of the former County Exec who was sent to the federal pen.

Take a look at a scene that KCMO taxpayers could soon finance:

The Head Of Kansas City's Bus System Lost His Sight But Has A Clear Vision For Free Public Transit

Robbie Makinen, CEO of the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority, has more important matters to discuss than his inability to see. Ask about his vision loss, and he'll redirect the conversation. Yes, he said, he woke up completely blind one morning in 2013, but, "let's talk about free transit."

  2. If we can give a free ride to greedy developers, streetcar contractors, and other grifters, we can give free rides to the public.

  3. Hey it’s free! It will only show up in the water bill, or higher taxes, Jesus people, somebody has to pay for all this free shit somehow.

  5. 4:27 is correct. Additionally, don’t make it any easier for the darkies to infiltrate the metro.

  6. 4:17: Less than 10% of ATA revenue comes from fares. If you consider the savings resulting from collecting fares, printing transfers and bus passes, and the labor involved in counting and depositing fares it will probably be cheaper to make rides free.

But why let logic interfere with a great narrative?

    1. Most people think along these lines but KCMO government does not. KCMO government only thinks in terms of tax and spend.
