Fighting For Kansas City Black Weed Opportunity Is Not A Civil Rights Struggle

Sorry.

There's plenty of biz for all manner of drug dealers.

Here's a glimpse at public radio progressives fighting for "equity" by way of blowing the same talking point smoke without offering much perspective. Weed may not be worse than alcohol but it's not much better . . . Marijuana is still a drug, a reasonably valuable one at that . . . At some point, SOCIAL JUSTICE IN THE WEED GAME NEEDS TO BE CALLED OUT AS WORTHLESS ENDEAVOR AND NOTHING MORE THAN A MARKETING STRATEGY.

You decide . . .

Why Black Entrepreneurs In Kansas City Might Be Left Out Of The Medical Marijuana Boom

Angela Boykin watched her cousin die from cancer in 2016. Loretta - or Lo, as everyone called her - suffered through significant pain. So when Missouri voters passed the medical marijuana law in November, she wanted in on opening a dispensary in Kansas City.

  1. “McVey said parts of Missouri’s application could hurt the potential for diversity, such as asking applicants to have $150,000 in capital to open a dispensary. Missouri isn’t unique in having a capital requirement”

And that right there is the real reason she and many others won’t get a dispensary, playing the race card isn’t going to get her black or brown people shit if they don’t have the money to start with, the days of I’m black you have to give me everything are over. Get the money or get out.

Is that the excuse you will use when all of the permits are given to white men?

  5. Why should a person have to have any capital or expertise to get a permit to open a business?
Every other person you meet in the black community is an "entrepreneur".
All talk, no idea what they're doing, poor service or product, and endless excuses.
There are all kinds of business development seminars and programs around, many of them free or very low cost.
The weed business will be appropriately highly regulated.
There have to be some basic criteria.

I don't see in the article that either Boykin or Bennett had their application refused; based on color of their skin, lunch of the draw, or any reason. What does this article want? "Diversity"? A special set of rules for non-whites? Good luck
