Electric Scooter Companies Claim Riders Operate Safely On Kansas City Streets

This is about more than crash reports . . . Radio news misses the point inasmuch as the safety stats are flimsy at best given the most crashes aren't reported to police. Meanwhile, drivers and neighborhood hood input on the efficacy of the scooters is dismissed or unheard. Checkit:

Few injuries reported with electric scooters in Kansas City

Kansas City, MO - It was around this time last year that the City entered into interim operating agreements with Bird and Lime scooter companies with a focus on safety. To date, Kansas City Fire Deputy Chief, Tom Collins says there's only been two traumatic injury reports on record.

  2. When you see a rider on a scooter in KC, those are your liberals and far leftists, and if you are a right wing man sneaking a ride on the dumbest thing to come to KC outside of the street car, you need to be bitch slapped and kicked in the place where your balls should have been had you been born to become a real man. Scooters are gay, if you are gay and ride them, then by all means. If you have a beard and are on a scooter and are over 18, just know when people drive by and see you they know you are gay!!

  3. Safely? Are you kidding me??? Have you seen these idiotic hipster-types on these things? They hog the sidewalks and more often are out in the street weaving in and out of traffic with no regard for stoplights, stop signs, or vehicular traffic. It's insane.

  5. Scooters are all right just wish the users wouldn’t leave them obstructing the sidewalk so often. That inconsiderate and a burden to elderly or disabled especially.

  6. Electric scooter companies have never seen the circus-act riders in our downtown...

  7. I support scooter riders because it's a big middle finger to all the retards who wasted $150 million of our dollars for a one mile long retard train

  8. This is total BS. The riders are constantly on the sidewalks whizzing past pedestrians at high speeds. Citations are not being issued and the rules of the road are not being enforced by ANYONE! What about the scooterbugs who crashed into a KCPD car at 43rd and Oak last week... ran, tasered the officer with her own taser then were shot? What about the scooter gangs who are mugging people? As pedestrians we have the right to feel safe on our own sidewalks! The scooters litter the walkways...what about the disabled and their lack of accessibility? I smell a rat...at $1 per scooter per day for the city....somebody's looking the other way. Did I leave out the hazard to drivers trying to dodge these things as they dart in front of cars and in and out of traffic? I've spoken with Plaza Security several times after close calls and they flat out told me they don't entire the no sidewalk rule. Crazy!!!! This is negligence on so many levels by so many authorities who dont seem to give a damn about public safety!
