AS THE WORLD BURNS: KANSAS CITY NEXTGEN CONVERSATION ADVOCATES GREEN NEW DEAL IN KANSAS CITY!!!

Given that pretty much everybody outside today is melting, this is a good opportunity to discuss AOC's GREEN NEW DEAL and recent local advocacy.

Take a look at this recent conversation and a bevy of young people working to save the planet . . . Take a look:

The Green New Deal in Kansas City

Young leaders with Sunrise Movement and Kansas City Sierra Club Chair Kevin Grooms host Green New Deal conversation with Andrés Bernal, advisor to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Kansas City, MO- Over 200 people packed Unity Temple on the Plaza for the Kansas City chapters of the Sunrise Movement and the Sierra Club’s conversation with Andrés Bernal about a Green New Deal for Kansas City. Local Sierra Club Leader Kevin Grooms interviewed Mr. Bernal, an advisor to original Green New Deal co-sponsor Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Mr. Bernal was asked how a 10-year mobilization to fight climate change could bring good-paying jobs to the Kansas City metropolitan area.

“The Green New Deal resolution sets a framework that starts by acknowledging that climate change is real and a crisis that needs urgency because, unfortunately, we live in a situation where one party doesn’t accept that it’s real...while the other party has provided solutions that are very underwhelming,” said Andrés Bernal.

“The jobs guarantee in the Green New Deal says that local communities and regional communities will implement these jobs and determine what jobs they need, while the Federal government will provide the financing. These will be jobs that are carbon-free, from tutoring to regenerative agriculture to urban farming to the arts and sports. We’ll staff nonprofits so that they can operate at the capacity that they need to do their work and encourage social entrepreneurship.”

Several young leaders with Sunrise also stressed the importance of a climate debate for the 2020 Presidential election and had attendees write their state DNC representatives, urging them to vote “yes” on hosting a climate debate this August.

Missouri DNC Representative Winston Apple, who supports a climate debate, was in attendance. This comes weeks after the Sunrise Movement rallied outside of the national DNC headquarters for three straight days, which prompted the DNC to announce a vote on a climate debate.

“This is where we’re at with the Democratic Party: The Green New Deal resolution has been co-sponsored now by 27% of the Democrats in the senate and 40% of just the Democrats in the house,” said Missouri DNC Delegate Winston Apple. “That’s just to say we ought to do something, not to do something, and we can’t even get half in the house and barely over a quarter in the Senate? That ain’t near good enough. And my message to the DNC in a week and a half is going to be: talk is not going to cut it with mother nature…. In the end, we need to listen to Benjamin Franklin. ‘Well done’ is better than ‘well said,’ and we need to just do it.”

Dozens of organizations and nearly all the leading candidates have publicly called for a climate debate, and 2/3rds of Democratic voters want the DNC to host a climate debate.

“The climate crisis is more than a single issue. It affects every person in this country. It affects our economy, healthcare, food, infrastructure, and vulnerable and frontline communities. The American people have to right to hear our candidates’ stances on the biggest threat of our time,” said Madgean Morrison, 21, a University of Kansas City-Missouri student and a leader with the Sunrise Movement. “The vote on August 22nd will demonstrate whether or not our Democratic leadership is willing to fight for our future.”

I think they intend to vote in the next election, & I think they intend to vote Democrat.

But, be sure to bully, because you are, after all, a Republican & that is what your Fuhrer would want.

Kids like this "intend" to do all kinds of things, but it turns out they have the attention span of gnats and race from one social media trend to the next.
For them the election is 100 years away.
And lots and lots of kewl things will be going on between now and then.
If the Dems are counting on millenials and "women of color" to carry them in November 2020, they'll have another tough morning the day after election day.
    Ask Hillary!

  18. If any of these people gave a shit about "making the planet better" they'd go to asia and africa and work toward green solutions there because that's were 95 percent of the pollution in the world comes from. Promoting this shit in America is less than useless and has no impact

  19. Don't see any women of color in that group.

  20. So a for many years SCIENCE told up there were 9 planets.
now SCIENCE tells us there are 8
In the 1970's SCIENCE warned of global cooling
In the 1980's it was the ozone layer
In the 1990's we were warned that by 2010 we would all be under water from global warming.
In the early 2000s we would all be starving by 2020 due to climate change
Sure we should be kind to the environment, just don't make a religion out of it.
