  1. I wouldn't worry too much. Mayor Sly James made a lot of these very same promises but never followed through on any of them. Just a lot of talk.

  3. And you really think he's going to do that??? Good by to jobs idiots, they can't pay 15.00 an hour without raising prices and raising prices will lose customers. But it will help one horse business because they won't have to hire you family owned family run. No jobs for you!!!!!

  4. Quinton was elected because he was seen as the lesser of two evils. Long-term costs of the developer agenda and his opponent's willingness to bend to them at every opportunity was Quinton's biggest strength. The SJW crowd flirted with him at times during the course of the race but, in the end, went with Jolie.

While Quinton is still an unknown quantity, Jolie left nothing too the imagination.

Eight years ago Sly was an unknown quantity too. Ultimately he proved an easy sale for the developer crowd and gleefully got on board the train. Will Quinton spill his candy in the lobby like his predecessor? Stay tuned.

  5. I thought this guy was stupid but now I know it’s even worse than I thought, this just proves the theory of when you hit rock bottom you can go sideways. There really is nothing to look forward to that resembles anything good for the future of kc. Sad.

  6. Sure is doing as the last Mayor did a lot of talking but in the end can he do the walk to make it happen with a positive note for Kansas City?

  7. @12:22 nailed it - "the lesser of two evils".
And in 2020 we'll see just how many people actually voted AGAINST HILLARY CLINTON.

Both Democrats and Republican bases are fired up, so as always, it will depend on how the Majority (independents) swing. The problem the GOP faces is that Trump is a known quantity now, so they'll have the obstacle of his record to overcome.

  8. OK, are you ready for:
-More automated self-checkout lines at Wal-Mart?
-Waiting longer in line for a "regular" check-out because only 2 are open?
-The restrooms at businesses to be even more filthy (because who is going to pay $15/hour to someone to clean bathrooms)?
-Your favorite restaurant or store to have "bankers hours", 9:00-4:30 Monday-Friday? Cutting back weekend hours to save on salaries.
-A burger at McDonald's to cost as much as a burger at the Chiefs game? - for example...

And, when things start costing more - and the $15/hour crowd all of the sudden finds that "Hey, I'm not any better off. Things are getting more expensive", then they are going to start screaming for "$25/hour minimum wage - we aren't making enough to live on!!" - for starters...

And take warning, it's not just KC. There's a push in the US Congress for a Federal Minimum Wage of $15/hour.

Be careful what you ask for.

  10. Quinton Lucas cannot help but be agreeable to each and every person presenting him with an agenda. As noted in the campaign time and time again; he says one thing on Monday and one thing on Tuesday and yet again on Thursday -- Thursday being the vote day...

  11. Leave him alone.
    He is cute and HOT!
    Sometimes that is enough.

  12. QUINTON LUCAS is full of shit...odd.

    ReplyDelete
  13. So the Lucas administration is off pandering in the wrong direction and "addressing" issues it can't do anything about, even BEFORE he becomes mayor.
Early start ignoring the basics that residents actually need and depend on city government to provide and somehow thought maybe this was the election that somebody FINALLY might at least try to deliver.
A victory of hope over experience.
    When's the next city election?
    It never changes.

  14. Apparently the news is reporting that Bernie Sanders people will have their hours cut if they go to $15 an hour, and so it begins!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Bernie Sanders just had to cut the hours of his workers in order to pay them $15 an hour. That's a preview of the future.

  16. A Seattle restaurant chain just declared bankruptcy and they say it's because of the $15 an hour minimum wage there.

Those screaming for higher wages won't work anymore than they do now and will probably work less long as they make what they were they will be jumping for joy to do it in less hours.

So ok you make $10 an hour now and work 28 hours a week that gives you $280 before taxes.

Now you're making $15 an hour but get your hours cut to 20 a week so you only get $300 before taxes now.

So in the end you make what $20 more a week but work less hours? Now we all know the fat and lazy are going to be all over this deal.

They get a $20 raise and work less hours.

So in the end nothing has changed we just have more people running around on the streets causing more trouble than they do now.

So if they were paid $12.50 a week and worked for 40 hours per week they would make $500.00 a week and be too tired to run around getting in trouble.

But thank Obama care for causing everyone to lose a lot of health benefits and hours at work. All Obama care did was give non-working and illegals free healthcare paid for by the rest of us.

Obama screwed the pooch and did he care? Nope he sure didn't, because you pay for his health care not him.

    ^^^^Sorry I meant $12.59 an hour

  19. Business will cut staff and people will be doing twice or three times the Work. They will be earning there fifteen Dollars an hour.

  20. Fast food restaurants will be moving to kiosk order panels even faster than previously planned. So far I've used them in McDonalds, Panera, and Taco Bell. They work great and I prefer using them because my order is exact and doesn't get scrambled in translation.

The typical 2-sided kiosk costs $10,000 and pays for itself in one year. Most restaurants can fit three 3-sided kiosks in their order area without major renovation. That translates to replacing six fewer employees over a 16 hour shift 6am to 10pm.

  22. Lucas is making the same mistake Trump did.
He has convinced himself that everyone who voted AGAINST HIS OPPONENT voted FOR him.
This would only be a valid assumption if there had been three choices on the ballot, "T/L", "C/J", or "none of the above".
If he (or Trump had won a majority under those circumstances, they could assume some sort of mandate. Absent that, however, their "victory" is simply "blue smoke and mirrors", however "weird" it is that he won.
