TKC FACT CHECK: DOCUMENTARY DEDICATED TO KANSAS CITY MAYOR-ELECT QUINTON LUCAS CAMPAIGN FLOPS!!!

For late night news lovers (ew) let's share just a bit of condor regarding the City Hall political scene over the next few years:

TKC doesn't want to start out too critical of the new Mayor for a lot of reasons but mostly because we think that he deserves a chance to prove himself in his new job.

There are reasons to be hopeful, take a look at his plans and realize that very few local politicos are willing to share their agenda with the media . . .

Mayor-elect Quinton Lucas gives plan for first 100 days

Nevertheless, we would be remiss if we didn't report the facts about the tenuous circumstances of his upcoming tenure . . . For instance:

A RECENT DOCUMENTARY REGARDING THE CAMPAIGN SUCCESS OF MAYOR-ELECT QUINTON LUCAS GARNERED SCANT NOTICE FROM KANSAS CITY RESIDENTS!!!

That's too bad because it's really impressive and offers a nice look into what was a surprisingly divisive endeavor.

Still . . . With just a few hundred people watching on Youtube compared to 75K views for Tech N9ne from the same series. It's clear where Kansas City's audiences aren't captivated by the new administration. To be fair, Tech has a national following, has sold millions worth of merch across the world and played to audiences that packed festivals and auditoriums by the tens of thousands.

Still, we think the feature is important viewing material for those wired into the local political scene like our reader community.

Here's the narrative:

"The Quinton Lucas Playbook --KMBC 9 News reporter Michael Mahoney and a team of photojournalists were able to get an unprecedented look behind the scenes of the Lucas campaign starting one week before the election."

Take a look:

  1. agree that it's not an apples to apples comparison. But Quinton is getting too much "love" from the local media. Would like to see more tough questions. So far it's just a lot of fawning and praise for a story that's more like campaign material.

    Campaign is over.

    Time to get t work!

  6. 10:51 is correct and is only reason he won.

  7. 10:06pm is right about all the media slobbering over Lucas and the Mahoney "report" and the breathless lead up to it was downright embarrassing.
    Lucas isn't the second coming.
He'll be just the latest in the same old mess that passes for government in KCMO.
Run by the insider crowd and others who want something for themselves, leaving regular residents and small businesses stuck with the bills.
So forget all the campaign promises about fixing streets and reducing crime and get ready for the photo ops, ribbon cuttings, and big big announcements.
    It never changes.

  10. About five percent of the city voted for Lucas...it's no surprise that no one gives a shit about this video or him in general
