TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY HEATWAVE THREATENS FRAGILE GRID AS POWER INSIDERS FEAR SUMMER BLACKOUTS!!!

The EPIC Summer spike in temperatures threatens to expose another glaring failure in Kansas City infrastructure maintenance and investment.

To wit . . .

TOP ECHELON INSIDERS WARN OF THE FRAGILE KANSAS CITY GRID AND RISING THREAT OF SUMMER BLACKOUTS!!!

Here's the word because we know that our favorite local utility company is where a great many politicos run to hide after their careers have left them unemployable at any job which isn't pure patronage . . . Also, they read this blog for a giggle.

"Right now things are running near the breaking point. A few more days at these levels and temperatures and we're going to start seeing an impact. Weekends where people are running their A/C day and night at full blast could be 'interesting' in terms of how we'll manage demand. The brownouts might not make the news but if that happens we'll be only a matter of hours before a blackout. A few thousand customers have been complaining about power fading in and out. Nobody wants to hear about rate increases but in this heat A/C is a matter of life and death for many people. As the population ages, we have start thinking about securing our grid not just as an energy issue but also in terms of public safety. A hot Summer night in the KC metro without power is not something that any one wants to see happen. So, yeah, there is concern but also hope that the heat breaks soon."

So far local media has been ignoring nationwide concerns about the grid in order to offer silly stories about keeping cool.

Unfortunately, lingerie and bikini models have poised TKC's mind and so this is what like a midday cool off looks like in the world according to a blogger . . .

Nevertheless and just like so many homeowners keeping their fingers crossed every time the central air takes a little bit longer to kick on . . . We ask our blog community . . .

WHAT'S YOUR PLAN IF THE KANSAS CITY GRID FAILS?!?!?

Greasing up and running down to the Plaza with a hammer and a wheelbarrow doesn't count.

And so, we offer more proof, insight and info about the danger confronting the local grid along with stereotypical local newsy "beat the heat" links which might be informative but also sound vaguely sexual . . .

  1. Thankfully the grid is a lot more stable than our sewers, which are garbage.

    1. The power problem is nationwide and it's not because of a lack of fuel like so many of the "green new deal" idiots would like to contend, it's a technological problem because at least half of the energy is being lost to inefficiency. In some places more than half. Think about that, more than half of the power America produces is just lost in the air, some real leaders should see that as one of our biggest challenges. But Americans now just want to fight about tweets.

    2. Midwest has a rolling blackout plan, in Kansas we've seen companies cutting power in the very early morning when it does the least damage.

  2. Better hope that it doesn't last longer than a charge on a phone. Have you seen what young people become without their devices? Not pretty.
