TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY BIKE MASTER PLAN REDUX MEETS INCREASED RESISTANCE FROM EAST SIDE!!!

Consider this a quick preview as the issue of funding for cyclists is one of many last minute spending proposals that the outgoing council wants to address before they leave . . .

To wit . . .

WE NOTICE INCREASED EAST SIDE CRITICISM OF THE KANSAS CITY BIKE MASTER PLAN FROM EAST SIDE LEADERS WHO FEEL THAT THE CASH IS BEING WASTED AND DOESN'T BENEFIT THEIR COMMUNITY!!!

Whilst token Latinos and urban core hipsters abound and are willing to stand up for ABOUT $500-MILLION FOR KANSAS CITY BIKES, what we notice behind the scenes is that the Bike KC crew doesn't have much influence in the 3rd District despite their eagerness to speak for all of the "urban core" in their polished up pitch to city council.

  1. The latest, and perhaps most ridiculous, bike plan is a perfect example of KCMO "politics" at its worst:
Huge amounts of tax money wasted while such issues as public safety and street maintenance are ignored.
And, if there's nothing in it for ME, I'm against whatever is proposed.
    Momentum!

  2. ^^ I agree

  3. There are no sidewalks on the east side so kids have to walk on the edge of the street but there are millions for hipsters to ride bikes.

  4. ^^^ where in the central core are you saying there’s no sidewalks? Doesn’t matter if they did because those people walk down the middle of the street and park they rides on the sidewalk.

  5. Certain people from the East Side are not slated for kickbacks from this proposal and they are squealing for their handout.

  6. This bike plan crap is just another example or MARC trying to run this City. For decades they pull the strings behind all these politicians using the guise of "regional". the problem is that this "regional" thing always costs KCMO taxpayers the most; bike lanes and toy trains don't do much for the livability of most folks in KCMO. But we get what we vote for. As I have watched election results over the years I am optimistic that eventually more fiscally conservative voices will carry more weight in this City.

  7. The majority of the bikers are white homosexuals and colored people do not like them.

  8. The city is $700-million behind on pension contributions, but wants to spend $500 on bike stuff. Brilliant.

  9. 8:31 exactly right, the fat fake revs aren’t getting any kickbacks so they be angry, pretty soon they will be calling it a racist plan, just wait.

  10. F the bike lanes on Armour Blvd. Major safety Custer F**k and total waste of taxpayers money.

  11. Gosh clean up the bike lanes we already have before agitating for more. They covered in broken glass, sand, debris, limbs etc etc.

Seems like most of the money put toward bike lanes gets sucked up in salaries and for activists and community development non-profit hustlers anyway

Fixing the pot holes and running street sweepers would do much more for actual cyclists than these highly touted initiatives by self-anointed bike activists.

And please stop narrowing our streets with bump out curbs that make me merge into traffic even if there’s no car parked on the right hand side ...

But then again what do I know I just ride my bike in this town every damn day.

    Sorry for the rant.

  12. If the bike lanes on Armour are the example of the master plan then this city is screwed. Armour is a disaster waiting to happen, when someone gets killed pulling out of a side street I hope the family sues for a trillion dollars. The city knows it’s dangerous and therefore complicit in the danger! City attorneys should take heed!

  13. Bike lanes mess up traffic and they pay little for streets compared to neighborhood residents.

  14. NO LYCRA!!!
