The NEXTGEN of Kansas City politics is enduring harsh criticism from across the spectrum of 12th & Oak as their youth, hopefulness and naivete is now under fire.
We've talked about this previously but there's a few more details to add . . .
Again, more than any member of his crew, Team Q Chief of Staff hopeful John Stamm has been the focus of insider angst.
Here's one reason why for those who haven't seen it yet:
Meet the 28-year-old KC native behind Quinton Lucas’ successful campaign for mayor
It gets worse . . .
One insider tells us:
"The guy just doesn't seem to know what he's doing and it's worse that he doesn't know who to ask. When pressured he makes these very vague threats that totally tip his hand. If Quinton is going to go with this guy as his Chief of Staff than he's in trouble. He doesn't have many people who are loyal to him and he's already getting pushed around by business leaders, community activists and the Council. Maybe he might make a good communications guy but if this guy is going to basically run the Mayor's office. It'll be a free for all."
Mind you . . . We should note that all of this conversation is coming at a time when locals are scrambling for positions on boards and committees that will shape the next 4 years in city-awarded contracts -- The only real reason people care about KCMO politics one way or another.
Stop crying and realize that local American municipal activism is nothing more than a not-so-complex scheme to engage in bid-rigging. Everybody who is NOT doing this is either a sucker, a prop or one of many losers who think that local policy impacts our lives more than almost any other aspect of government.
To wit . . .
MILLENNIAL TEAM Q CONFRONTS OPPOSITION FROM INSIDERS BUT SHOULD THAT INSPIRE HOPE FOR LOCAL VOTERS?!?
In fairness, it should be noted that Mr. Stamm is doing exactly what his job requires -- Acting as a lighting rod for the Mayor-Elect and shield for a city full of people who need a favor or 95-million of them . . .
What we know for certain is this . . .
Mayor-Elect Quinton's team is exceptionally young and doesn't have a lot of experience in Kansas City politics -- That's either a sign of hope OR a hint that they're already in over their head.
You decide . . .
Quinton, like every mayor, needs people he can control. The bad part about this is that he's not good with that kind of thing so he picked really weak people. T, you should know that government works from the top down.
ReplyDeleteAnybody but Jolie is a win for KC. More than willing to give him a chance when you think about what a disaster the alternative would have been. After all, he's just another vote on the council.
DeleteYoung people participating in KC politics is a good thing! Glad to see that Quinton is keeping his promise to transform things. Good for him. Better than the old guard.
ReplyDelete^^^^ +1
DeleteMillennial mayor and his minions?
ReplyDeleteUgh.
KC's only about 6 years behind the times now.
KCMO will be Baltimore in 2 years.
ReplyDeleteKC elects a retarded mayor and people question why the staff is retarded too. News at 10
ReplyDeleteTen bucks says this pussy runs away screaming and crying from all the pressure, two months tops! Hahahahaha!
ReplyDelete^^Sorta like you did when your wife died? Hahahahahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteWell Mr. Stamm does not own one single piece of property in KCMO. Glad to see someone with skin in the game may be Quinty's right hand man.
ReplyDeleteGreat start huh?
Quinton doesn't either, right?
DeleteAh this kid's with MENSA.
ReplyDeleteI suppose Russ Johnson and him might do well robbing the taxpayers out of their disposable incomes and retirements behind the scenes.
3:50 get a life. Weirdo.
ReplyDeleteNo worries! Loar and Shields will be in charge! Q is their puppet. He doesn't dare cross them.
ReplyDeleteIt really doesn't matter that the KCMO electeds and their staffs have no plans or know what they're doing.
ReplyDeleteThere are PLENTY of folks who roam the halls at 12th and Oak and who actually run the city, so that's the actual agenda that will become the priority.
Developers and their attorneys, insiders, consultants, favor seekers, campaign contributors, east side intimidators, and just the regular plain old grifters.
At the same time, the Kiddie Corps is going to be uniquely vulnerable to con men, scam artists, big talkers, and the KCMO establishment, so expect to see them go off in 360 degree directions like a dandelion puff and become easily distracted as the insiders work their magic.
The local media is already all ga ga over Lucas without him doing anything at all, so it's likely all downhill from here.
When is the new administration going to determine the actual financial condition of the city and report to the public?
Legislation #:190621 Introduction Date: 8/1/2019
ReplyDeleteSponsor: MAYOR LUCAS
Title: Amending the Standing Rules of the City Council by repealing those rules and enacting a new set of Standing Rules of like subject matter; and assigning ordinances to the appropriate committees.
Whatever that is supposed to mean.
^^^ Ideally it could mean there actually could be some coherence, the quality of being logical and consistent, instead of another four to eight years of total incoherence.
ReplyDeleteBUT you know things go here.
It appears that sucking dick is the main qualification to be on the staff.
ReplyDelete4:36 -- You are right on! Lucas is terrified of Shields, Loar, and Clinton Adams. He won't do anything they don't direct him to do.
ReplyDeleteLocal policy does effect the lives of 80 percent of the population who live here. Not talking about Grain Valley, Platte City, Leavenworth, Parkville or Belton or any of those who commute into KC to earn a paycheck and get out for the weekend. You can't talk about murder in this city without talking about all the people that KCPD kills year after year, decade after decade? Chief Smith runs the city like a mobster that sends the bill to the city every year and no one thinks twice about crossing the police establishment? Everyone knows a mayor in a city this size is a figure head but they can be a life line to the citizens that make this city work.
ReplyDeleteIn late news,Washington has shut down the Rock Island corridor
ReplyDelete^^^ Damn good call!

ReplyDeleteOnce upon a time in Kansas City there was a city Councilman by the name of Jermaine Reed. Mr Reed posted on his City web portal that he had an MBA from a local college until the Chancellor from this college said he did not graduate. The portal was then corrected. Mr Reed also traveled on the City expense budget more than any other city Council member, year after year.after year. Mr Reed also introduced and backed major City investments in 18th and Vine, the Linwood Grocery Store, MLK renaming, and the Jazz Museum. $100's of million dollars were wasted while basic KCMO services were ignored and the city Urban Murder rates soared to be among the highest in America.
Mr Trump, would you consider Mr Reed to be guilty of public corruption???
^^Blah blah blah. Please, do us all a favor and go buy a friend so you can bore him with idiotic shit like this. Copy?
