TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! EPIC KANSAS CITY WATER RATE SURGE COMING SOON!!!

Another cost of living increase confronts Kansas City residents who are still in shock from the ongoing Jackson County property tax crisis.

Next up . . .

RISING KANSAS CITY WATER RATES THREATEN RESIDENTS ALREADY DROWNING IN THE RECENT DELUGE OF HIGHER LOCAL GOVERNMENT LEVIES!!!

A TOP ECHELON INSIDER offers a vital perspective in this deep dive quote:

"The sad truth is that KC Water rates need to double to keep up with and, hopefully, reduce demand. It's sad because we all understand that water is the last commodity and essential for life but KCMO is just using too much of it and our water/sewer infrastructure is so horribly out of date that there aren't a lot of options. Last year (and the year before that) we had to make a significant increase and this time around it's going to be worse given the rough weather from 2019 so far and the absolute need to update the system. We're also looking at another tax increase in addition to higher costs. There are more updates needed than most people could possibly imagine and at the current rate level there is simply no way to cover costs of operation."

We're told that the increases are already underway but customers should notice sometime later this Summer. Public outcry will likely be  accompanied by a great many denials from the new Mayor & Council along with empty promises that fixing infrastructure will prevent future cost spikes which hasn't been true of previous improvements.

  1. so much for an "affordable" city that was one of our main selling points. All the rest was just marketing trash.

    2. Actually, very similar to what is going on at the county. They're doing it a long way out before the election in order to lessen the impact to Quinton and the new council. Problem is, people will be reminded of it every month and they're got going to forget about how their bill has doubled.

At best maybe some of the indigent relief funds might help out a few people but not many.

  3. We're getting a huge increase in water rates at the same time the city council voted to give themselves raises.

  5. don't think this stops at the city limits. KC Water supplies to a lot of metro cities.

  6. I would like a State, not local, audit to confirm this need.... and other things.

  7. First, the rate increases were due to fixing the system. Now, apparently, the rate increases are due to supply and demand. It's usually best if everyone tells the same cover story.

KCMO/Jackson County political leadership subsidize mushroom-cloud operation, stating it will put a glow on the region!!!

  9. They said the water bills were gonna be $250ish a month by the end of 2020. God help us all if these bastards get away with this shit. Don’t forget that they tacked on the tax for the $800,000,000 gobond to the water bill that has nothing to do with the water. What else is hidden in there?

Dang, those sinks at the libraries are gonna be really crowded.

  11. Another reason to move away. The city has deferred maintenance on the water system for so long that the day of reckoning will be very, very painful. I have complained about rising water rates in Water Dist 1 in JoCo for years, but I was wrong. At least the system has been maintained and gradually updated. It is a case of "pay me a little bit now, or pay me lots more later".

  12. Thank Cleaver,Barnes and Slie for water rates that are higher than my electric. Can I drill a well in Brookside?

  13. This is just a little something more to go with the increased sales taxes, vehicle repairs from crappy streets, and the new greatly-increased property assessments from the county.
It's hard to believe that the KCMO electeds are actually making believe that they're focused on "affordable housing".
Same 'ole big big talk, but please just don't pay any attention to what they do.
    Same song;
    Forty second verse.
When's the next election with a brand new list of promises...
    and the same old faces?

  14. Jail the top brass in the water/sewer dept. They are the ones for years who have made the decision to "defer" maintenance. I don't understand how these people can hold a job for so many years, draw salary, and do little to nothing to correct the ageing infrastructure. All the management should return their last 20 years of salary back to the tax payers. You all have done nothing to earn it. What happened to the HR yearly review every employee is supposed to have> lets go into personnel files and see if they we cited or not for not accomplishing anything. Impossilbe to have stellar let alone satisfactory ratings. How can they stay employed?

  15. Then turn off the fucking fountains! "The city of fountains", the "Paris of the Plains" bullshit. The residents will just let their lawns fry and turn to straw. The shitty will look even more shitty than it does now. Keep visitors away from homes and only let them see the tagging on buildings in the crossroads area. Need more TiFs, hotels, schools, trolleys airports and raises for assholes who run this town.

If this news had come out before the election, even the dumbfuck KC voters may have considered a Republican candidate for mayor. Jus sayin'.

Failure to maintain critical infrastructure by SLie and other administrations makes this increase a hard pill to swallow along with all of the other taxpayer money given away to developers. SLie, Quinton and the council needs to change this pill to a suppository.

  17. Tired of same shit7/13/19, 4:53 PM

Don't expand the fucking trolley. Don't throw more money at a failed grocery store. Don't provide raises to already overpaid council members.

Take the wasted money and actually do something for the city for a fucking change and fix the water dept.

  18. wont spend a dime fixing or maintaining our water systems but wanna charge ever more fuck that

  22. The water rates are due to infrastructure "maintenance" (or lack of). The feds concluded Kansas City dumped enough raw sewage into the river and sued Kansas City. Water usage isn't the issue. Water aplenty. In fact the individuals more inclined to use more water are the individuals more inclined to pay the water bills without issue. Decreasing water usage doesn't help the situation. Decreased stormwater in the sewage system does help the situation. If your gutters drain into the sewage system please install a sump pump...

  23. This is BS remember when Sly James sent out mail twice a week for months saying "I'm voting for this?" It was an increase to better the water treatment plant. Where did that money go. The Go Bond where is that money going? Stop voting for this crap. Your tax dollars are not at work in your city.

Too much turbidity! Boil your water! We need hotels, so we don't have money to waste on water dept fixes. Last (recent) hike wasn't enough for that AND HOTELS, SO STFU AND GET YOUR WALLETS OUT.....

  25. What happened to the three million gallons of untreated sewage coming down the Missouri River for the drinking pleasure of K C and the surrounding 30 communities who buy water from Killa City.

Why should KCMO residents pay water rates that have gone up 88%, while the thirty other towns and villages that buy water from KCMO have only experienced a 38% increase?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Corrupt KC thats why, To vote you MUST live in the city limits, which is why your police Dept and deplorable Fire department are forced to live within the city limits! Those are called guaranteed Votes no matter how corrupt the city goverment is, actually thats why the city government is corrupt as it is dumb asses!!

  27. It's extortion. Racketeering .The extraction of wealth. IF IT WASN'T A UTILITY IT WOULD BE PRICE GOUGING.

  28. I prefer the Water Department look at reducing salaries and retiring some of its older workers. City is trying to have Cadillac office amenities and bonuses, pay increases while trying to claim they dont have money. Start by downsizing overpaid personnel... they will find money to do their job. Is Sherry MacIntyre and her sister still on payroll at Capital Improvements?
