QUINTON LUCAS SKIPS COUNCIL VOTES!!!

Helling pretends to be shocked in his latest screed and considers - GASP! - That a candidate might not live up to campaign promises. Here's the sentiment but the content is hidden behind a better paywall and probably not worth no less than 100 bucks a year. You decide:

KC Mayor-elect Quinton Lucas is missing crucial council votes. Is this a bad sign?

Kansas City Mayor-elect Quinton Lucas spoke with reporters about the number of homicides this year after the Board of Police Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, July 9, 2019. On Thursday, the Kansas City Council is expected to take a final vote on massive public incentives for a downtown office tower and parking garage at 13th and Main streets.

  2. Expect mediocrity at best, both moral and practical.

Which is quite a step up from Sly to be honest.

  3. He'll probably be tweeting "Change We Can Believe" in and "Yes We Can" any day now.

  4. Lucas’ response to the paper:

Oh, local paper ... I’m proud of my nephew Khamaren and spent the last year neglecting my family. I look forward to spending a day with the U.S. Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton and spending time with my family as we appreciate Khamaren’s commissioning as a Marine. #SemperFi

  5. Give me a break. Do you people honestly think he's going to give you the time of day? Family????? More like a vacation so get use to that and also all of the money he will pump into failed and war torn areas in KC. But then your other candidate was bad too so I guess it's safe to say KC is screwed. Want a better KC bring a candidate next time if you can find one. No one has the balls to take on such a nasty city. The funk didn't (well maybe his wife) James didn't have any and Lucas doesn't have any. Just a broken down drunk and possible pedophile.

  6. Lucas' "leadership" was already on full display with his comments about the multiple homicides this week and the terrible number of murders so far in 2019.
He claims "it's a problem for the whole community; the schools, and all the other institutions in the area".
Ignoring the actual problem right from the start is not very encouraging.
The "problem" exists in an about 75 square block part of KCMO and it takes some guts to even identify it, much less to try to do something about it.
    No surprises here.
Lucas is just the latest drone to come out of the clubby little KCMO politico system.
When this is the best that can be found in a city of over 465,000, people just aren't paying attention or even trying.
    Sad.

  10. Haven't we learned anything from Sly James's tenure? The more a Mayor is out of town, the less harm he can do. So bon voyage, Quentin!
