Pitch Pushes Back Against Bad Advice From Former Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill

Call this a "wayback" news tidbit for our pals locked into cable news punditry wherein the former Missouri Senator offers a bevy of horrible observations. Read more:

Claire McCaskill, centrist Democrat who lost 2018 U.S. Senate race running as centrist Democrat, says Dems should be more centrist - The Pitch

MSNBC Here's Claire McCaskill last night on MSNBC saying Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are too progressive for America. A note about Claire McCaskill. She is a tough, talented public servant-one of the best Democratic politicians in the Midwest of the last few decades.

  2. "Dems should be more centrist"

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.

If Democrats are going to run as Republicans, they'll lose. Republicans do it much better.

    1. Insanity is also constantly acting insane, like the Nifty Woke Grrl Team or whatever.

Wake up. The only prayer the Dems have is to try to win back some centrist votes, whether nominally Republican or Democrat. Ilhan Omar is now the face of your party, and aside from being an openly racist student loan and immigration cheat, is also box office poison.

      Good luck!

  3. She wasn't well liked by anyone. She got re-elected in 2012 because she used her own campaign funds to prop up Akin through the primaries because he was the weakest candidate and everyone fell for the "legitimate rape" meme, which is kind of embarrassing for missouri. Hawley was a decent candidate and mopped the floor with her because simply because no one liked air claire. A more moderate candidate would probably be a good idea for the democratic party and I would never take advice from The Pitch, which is barely staying in business

  4. MO Hates Claire7/31/19, 10:23 AM

This is a purposeful or ignorant misread by The Pitch. Claire lost because she is a horrible liar who thinks she is above the law. She funneled $20M to her husband. She was the vote that pushed Obamacare to be the law. She never represented Missouri. She pandered to Obama and Clinton in hopes for higher office. They hated her. She is not a centrist. She is a hard core liberal. No Centrists win elected office in KC and she was the prosecutor. Almost as bad as JPB. How much has she lived in MO since she lost? Almost zero I bet. Doesn't she have homes in Oakland and DC? If she didn't help Todd Aiken win the R Primary in 2012, she would have lost that election. MO hates Claire.

  5. Claire has more skeletons in her closet than any normal size graveyard. Why anyone would want to listen to anything she says is just weird.

  6. And yet they do. Weird

  7. Haha Dems are standing in a hole six feet deep furiously shoveling away while thinking they are participating in a ground breaking photo op.

  8. McCaskill was only a centrist in the six month period before a election. The rest of the time she was a Democratic Party Girl and if her vote was needed she would vote however she was told to by the party leaders.

  10. I'm sure that a lot of the people commenting here also thought Trump's coattails would bring victory in the mid-terms...:-)

  12. After every election there's a whole new gaggle of losers trying to make believe they can stay "relevant" by becoming talking heads on cable television. And with all the dead air time the networks have to fill, there seem to be plenty of panels for them to occupy and spout off.
Nothing like getting insider ideas and strategies from people who have lost elections.
The Dem's echo chamber has decided that success in the 2020 election will have to count on millenials and "women of color".
    Two problems:
    1. Unless millenials get promised EVERYTHING they DEMAND, they won't vote.
    2. Unless women of color have a chance to vote for "a candidate of color", they won't vote either.
    Result?
    LOSING.
    Again.
They never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

  14. 12:37 DON'T BE STUPID. If you campaign, you reach for the stars. Trump did and you guys still don't have a wall, just a dumb racist in the white house.

  15. Conventional wisdom is always wrong about this. They say extreme positions can't win. Stay moderate to win swing voters.

If that were true, Trump would have lost.

The fact is while people claim they want compromise, nobody likes moderates and they don't show up and vote for them. Claire is just another example of that in her loss, while true liberals like Bernie and Warren got reelected.

Voters prefer candidates that stick to their principles and fight for them.

  16. Of course, Bernie won re-election in Vermont and Warren in Massachusetts.
They would have gotten worse numbers than Claire in Missouri.
And don't stand a chance in a presidential election.
Lots of celebrity and excitement, though.

  18. ^^^^Whose polls you fool?

  19. ^^^It Real Clear Politics polls which also had Hillary winning by a landslide. Just more fake anti Trump crap.

  20. The polls used were in the post, fool.

Emerson, Fox News, NBC/Wall Street Journal. Everything was aggregated on Real Clear Politics.

The same method that predicted Hillary would win by 2.9%, which she did. She won the popular vote by a margin of 2.9%.

Parroting Trump's 'fake polls' message doesn't change the numbers or trends. He is underwater and in deep trouble.
