Meth Town Pushing Sketchy Internets Tax

Amid the death of retail, here's local government looking to target Internets money from residents as they're desperately seeking more resources for the care of doggies and public safety.

These taxes are always a bait and switch. Raytown did the same thing with a "public safety" sales tax and then got rid of a large portion of their police force a couple of years later.

Good luck collecting this tax, try that and on-line sellers will simply respond by refusing orders placed for delivery in Independence, telling would-be purchasers why.

Pitchforks and clotheslines outside the City Hall the next day.
