Measly $150K Grant For Satchel Paige Home Want Cover Half Of KCMO Rehab Costs

Again, we want our readers to realize this is PROPAGANDA and not news . . .

THE SATCHEL PAIGE HOME WILL COST KANSAS CITY NO LESS THAN ONE MILLION BUCKS TO RESTORE WITH ZERO RETURN ON INVESTMENT FOR CITY HALL!!!

It'll be "news" if they can keep the price-tag below $2-MILLION but City Hall getting into the baseball history game is money losing even that siphons valuable resources away from a community that would be better served by more cash for sidewalks, street repair and more police.

Here's the cover story for politicos and social media rubes:

Kansas City receives grant to help in restoring home of Satchel Paige

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) - City leaders say they have received new help in the effort to restore the home of a Kansas City baseball icon. In a release Friday, city officials said they had received a grant to assist in the rehabbing of the former home of the legendary Satchel Paige.

  1. Should have used that money to beef up the assessment department staff so taxpayers can appeal on time and don't end up being totally screwed.

But you know how things go when leadership places a higher priority on glamour projects then helping their constituents.

  2. So are we going to pay to refurbish George Brett's Mission Hills mansion in 40 years?

Either a private investor comes along or bulldoze the damn thing down. It has no real historical meaning.

  3. My home could use a new roof, windows and carpeting. Where do I apply?

  4. 6:31pm No, Kansas City, Missouri isn’t going to, nor should they, spruce up anything in Johnson County, KS. Two distinct and different jurisdictions. And Brett can afford to fix his own property. The Satchel Paige home is on the National Register of Historic Places - in fact, the entire neighborhood that it sits in is. This is a worthy endeavor. You’re obviously ignorant and uninformed. Nice view from your privileged life as a White Male. (Middle finger to you, sir (used loosely).)

  5. ^^^Still does not mean we the taxpayer have to fix it. (Middle finger to you, sir (used loosely).)

^^Mostly this forum is a place for racists to safely say racist things that they can't say to a black man's face.

These are the same people who make fun of "safe places".

    Hate first, rationalize later.

  7. 1:53 every house in central hyde park is on the national register of historic places; that has NO value nor meaning except its old. The City has NO business listening to folks who have their own agenda, aka Negro Leagues Baseball folks, they are a sponge sucking up taxpayers dollars in that other sponge of 18th and Vine. Again, you get what you vote for, but eventually voters will grasp that concept or otherwise move out of KCMO and leave it to the suckers.
