KCK Firefighter Needs Help

Credit where it's due, here's a worthwhile bit of aggregating of an important local fundraising effort:

Funds being raised for KCK firefighter who underwent emergency operation Sunday

Funds are being raised for a Kansas City, Kansas firefighter who had to have two stents inserted into his aorta in an emergency operation Sunday. More than $5,500 in donations had been raised for Daniel Hashman as of Monday evening.

  1. The KC Fire department keeps ripping off taxpayers through tax increases that are misspent and collective bargaining...and this guy needs to raise funds for an emergency surgery? If this guy's health insurance is this bad after the union has screwed taxpayers so badly, where is the money stolen from tax payers going? I would have thought he had golden insurance.

  5. This is somewhat audacious for someone with quality health insurance. He needs 20 grand for what? To cover his deductible?

  6. Just a money grab.
He has sick time/short term disability and health insurance.

  7. Whats so sad here is this is a guy who helps protect the general public and can't get proper medical treatment and support but losers like Herr Fuckhouser sit at home all day getting free care along with a healthy check every month while being a pest to society.

  8. 4:24 - yeah, he probably does need the money to cover the deductible. Either that or his insurance won't cover some procedure for one reason or another to, you know, maximize profits. Insurance in the US is a joke.

  9. Yeah he has insurance and a good salary what does he need $20k for. His deductible probably $5k . I went to the ER and admitted and my deductible is $7500 and was charge $25k of hospital bills but just need the deductible.

  10. If anyone actually read the go fund me...he had to be life flighted and then driven in an ambulance for 5 1/2 hours. I imagine his insurance will cover some of it, but the life flights are not cheap. https://www.gofundme.com/kck-fire-fighter-daniel-hashman-medical-bills

  11. Life flight should be covered by insurance if it was an emergency.

If there is a problem, it's private insurance is failing. Again.

Time to cover everyone with a public option. Nobody loves their private insurance. All you do is fight with them about denial of coverage.
