Kansas City Summer 2019 Ruckus Tonight

For our beloved late night lurkers, shift worker pals and night owls of all sorts, we share this ENDURING GOLD STANDARD OF KANSAS CITY DISCOURSE in order to provide a brief respite from 24-hour-labor mostly for the benefit of the 1% and/or all the people who bought up rising student loan debt.

Here's a glimpse of the Kansas City conversation this week . . .

"Mike Shanin talks to Truman Library Director Kurt Graham about major renovations happening at the facility. Jamekia Kendrix, Laura McConwell, Jeremy LaFaver and Dustin Morris discuss the outrage over recent Jackson County property tax assessments, efforts to increase pay for Kansas City's mayor and city council and the crowded field in Kansas in the 2020 race for U.S. Senate."

Take a look at a show more people will watch online than anywhere else:

  1. The Kris Kobach roasts were worth watching and really appreciated Shanin's snark after they were complete.

    1. Kris Kobach is a perfect example of what's wrong with the Republican Party, they can't get over fundamental flaws in their platform. I'm a Conservative from a Conservative family of veterans but even I know that Kris Kobach just isn't going to get the votes that he needs to win. You might as well just hand over the seat to the Democratic Party by allowing him to be the nominee. But so often in this culture it's the loudest voice who is heard above more reasonable people. That's a shame because there are a lot of good candidates out there who deserve a shot but we're running people who had their chance and wasted it.

  2. The back and forth over taxes was just dumb. Two of the panelists were just following notes from the executive. It's pretty cold to just throw people out of their houses because of a local government screw up.

  3. With this raise these morons gave themselves does that mean they have to work full time now? They only work 4 or 5 months out of the year now, will Lucas still spend half his time in Lawrence like he does now? What kind of assholes would give themselves raises after being the worst mayor and clowncil evar.

  4. 4 or 5 months out of the year? it's not even that much. Most council people only work 1 & 1/2 days a week.

  5. Could they have picked more clueless panelists? Shanin tried to lead them, but it was so obvious that not one of them knew anything about Jackson County government or how assessment works. Jamekia should be ashamed, she lives here, and if she is an “education consultant” she should have at least a basic understanding of how the money gets to the schools, she was just spouting words.

^^^ +100 None of these folks understand the issues they were discussing. Seems like they didn't read the notes.

  7. Jeffrey LaFavre doesn't seem to give a shit if people lose their homes because of higher taxes. He came across as a major dick.

  8. Shanin's self-chosen description doesn't fit … how about unmannerly self-centered crochety Old Fart?

And does he really think anyone cares how many times "Shannon" has been misspelled? Hell, he does it himself - daily!

  9. Sure doesn't look like Jamekia Kendrix has missed missed many meals recently maybe someday she'll actually wash her hair

  10. McConwell just seemed like she just woke up and got out of bed. Ill prepared and no energy. Plus she is putting on weight, probably has lunch daily with Tamika to discuss the womens soccer pay issues.
