Kansas City Polite Ruckus Tonight

In a week that was mostly filled with outrage over the fate of suburban schools and immigration crackdowns . . . The civic discourse was actually a lot more gentle.

The conversation about problems confronting Mayor-Elect Quinton Lucas was probably the highlight of tonight's talk.

Here's the description . . .

"Mike Shanin talks to Missouri State Senator Mike Cierpiot about the last legislative session. Danedri Herbert, Patrick McInerney, Crosby Kemper III and Terry Riley discuss the expectations and top priorities for the new Kansas City mayor and city council, the Kansas City Police Department's reluctance to invest in body cameras and Emanuel Cleaver's remarks about the deterioration of civility."

  1. Crosby watches too much MSNBC. He think Quinton actually watches this show when said: "Quinton, take control" in the camera. It was a good ploy but unlikely to reach many people besides the consultants who already have their goals for this administration outlined.

  2. Quinton still much better than Jolie.

It's a worthwhile show. I like that Shanin at least tries to show some balance in his presentation giving both sides a chance to speak. Most local political programming is just watered down middle of the road nonsense. It's better to let the opposing viewpoints match up and at least make their case. Thanks for linking this TKC, for years I didn't watch this until you started posting it.

  5. Terry Riley is a dip shit. How did he ever find himself sitting next to all that is Crosby Kemper?
