Kansas City Bulky Item Pickup Still Hot Mess

Here's another look at City Hall failing to keep promises, offering lackluster services and then denying everything in a local media report . . .

Fox4: Complicated rules for KC’s bulky trash pickup leave some neighbors frustrated

Deets:

"Bulky item pickup was suspended over the winter to focus on winter storm limb clean-up. A spokesman said they're back on track now -- even though neighbors waiting for service may not agree. If you need to make an appointment for bulky item pick up, call 311. The city said you can leave your items out starting after 3 p.m. on the day before pickup without the risk of penalties."

Basics of the story . . . This month is already booked and neighbors are hit by fines for putting out their trash because there's absolutely zero coordination or cooperation betwixt anybody who works for City Hall.

  6. I find it so amazing that something as simple as trash pickup is one of the most screwed up operations in way to many cities.

But city after city totally screws it up.

  7. The simple answer is the city is broke. The $ 800 million go bonds are Gone. Any city service that they can put off while they wait for their next pot of Gold. Tax increases!!!!!

  8. Hey stupid dave, you don't even live in KC, so why are you posting on a thread about KC bulky trash pick up?? You have nothing to add to the discussion. NOTHING!

  9. My favorite line in the story is "you can leave your items after 3 p.m. on the day before pickup WITHOUT THE RISK OF PENALTIES"....

What the hell are they talking about? There are NO penalties. We have dozens of large items (couches, mattresses, crap furniture) that have been sitting out for months and months -- last winter for example. There are still there 6 mos. later.
