An Eviction Researcher Turns to Tenant Organizing in Kansas City

When she started working on what eventually became the Kansas City Eviction Project, Tara Raghuveer was a Harvard University student working on her senior thesis. The work was twofold: conducting ethnographic interviews with tenants and landlords, and analyzing almost two decades' worth of eviction records from Jackson County, Missouri.

  6. Maybe she's a genius, but she's not wise enough to realize that demonizing landlords and making it much harder to earn a profit on rentals ultimately will result in fewer affordable rental properties, not more.
