FOUL BALL HITS FAN @ THE K!!!

Another weekend reminder that low-rent attractions in Kansas City come with a certain degree of risk . . . OR confirmation that the MLB needs to take fan safety more seriously. Take a look:

Fan hit by foul ball at Kauffman

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- The Royals are taking another look at adding more netting at Kauffman Stadium after another fan was hit by a foul ball on Saturday night. The fan who was hit is going to be okay, but fans at the K gave us mixed reactions when we asked about adding more protective netting.

  1. Seat yourself between home plate and your wives and children. Pay close attention on the third base box side when a left handed batter is at the plate (and the reverse on the first base side), because they probably will have their noses in their phones or scoping the crowd. It's not more netting that's needed it's more common sense.

  2. Fewer people in the stadium would greatly reduce the chances of being hit by a foul ball.

More netting is needed. It should go all the way down the foul line, like it's done in Japan.

  4. Yea, let's keep letting baseballs jet into the heads of fans. Bright idea. I've heard of "Safety First" being a mantra at work places, but never "Safety Last." That would be a good one for the MLB. A bunch of "brainiacs" must be running the show (sarcasm).

  5. If you pay to see a Royals game and you get hit by a ball....Karma paid you a vist, not sure what you did to deserve that, only you know!

  6. Make me watch every swing of the bat? That's a hell of day at The K. And I'm 80 years old with my granddaughter, who's 6 years old. You think we can stop a ball with our bare hands or duck in time?

  7. Did the Royals really send the fan to the hospital in a taxi, as reported on local radio?
