EASTERN JACKSON COUNTY RESIDENT CALLED TO REPORT SHERIFF FORTÉ?!?

To start this morning, let's take a look at local politics which have grown so divisive that many residents don't seem to know where to turn . .

To wit . . .

RECENTLY, SHERIFF FORTÉ REVEALED THAT A RESIDENT CALLED TO REPORT HIM WHILST HE WAS PATROLLING A NEIGHBORHOOD!!! THAT'S RIGHT, LOCALS ARE NOW CALLING THE POLICE ON LAW ENFORCEMENT!!!

To be fair, TKC has noticed a lot more Jackson County patrol vehicles cruising local streets and they seem out of place if only because they don't usually work urban core streets . . . We'll try to find out if the Courthouse is stepping up their local crime fighting patrols . . . In the meantime . . .

Here's the courthouse top cop's side of the story . . .

Sheriff Forté: "Citizen called to report that I was driving slowly through an eastern Jackson County neighborhood with flashers on. Wasn’t driving with flashers on however I was driving slowly through the neighborhood with Jackson County Sheriff’s license plates on the front and rear of my vehicle with my window down.

"As a resident pulled out of a garage in a small two door vehicle he made eye contact with me as I passed by him. As I drove around the neighborhood he passed me numerous times while making eye contact with me.

"Only assumption I’m making is that this same driver called to report me and that he cares about what’s happening in his neighborhood."

Remember the Sheriff is both a law enforcement official and an elected official AND ALSO he's in charge of the jail . . . So it's impressive that he has time to drive through local streets in order to fight crime as well.

Of course, the subtext here is that the resident assumed something was out of place . . . But, in fact, we notice that Sheriff seems to be doing a decent job in his new role as he comes off a win against the great KC summer bra debate that was politely ignored by most locals and the violence inside the jail seems to be calming under his new management.

Developing . . .

  1. More patrols in KC is not a bad thing, especially at night. If he wants to get out there and do extra work. Good for him. I don't think the county rules for overtime are as lenient as KCPD.

    1. Typical suburban response, scared of their own shadow and had the balls to follow a cop. Wonder why Forte didn't just pull him over.

      This town is getting weird.

  2. ^^^^ Because if Forte had pulled him over, Forte would have had to actually get out of his car and do some work. He gets paid for the color of his skin, not for working.
"I gots to tell you dis Willis?"

  3. ^^Ugh huh. Hey look Maude's on!

  4. If Forte would shave, clean up and stop looking like a wino in a thrift shop uniform, he'd probably generate fewer Suspicious Person calls.

  5. Ummmm Sounds fishy to me, what was he doing driving though a neighborhood usually the Sheriff's patrol doesn't do that. There's not very many unincorporated neighborhoods. He was up to something and I don't blame the person for calling and reporting him I would have done the same thing. Very weird and scary.

  6. Was he being paid OVERTIME for driving around/patrolling. Trust me, he's not doing it to uphold the law. Maybe the county/state needs to audit just that for once.

  7. 7:26 that just cost us Jackson county taxpayers $25,000 in overtime!

Once again Tony provides a valuable service to the community by keeping creeps off the streets and and giving them a place to express their bizarre beliefs.

  11. Damn, I knew this city was divided but this is ridiculous. You've got people calling the police on the police. What kind of move is that? Somebody follows a Sheriff and acts like they're doing neighborhood watch. I may not agree with everything Forte' does but that is some discipline not to come down hard on this guy. Think about it, if it was the other way around and some black guy was doing the same thing. He'd be in lock up right now, not calling to file a complaint.

    KC area is getting crazy.

  12. Well maybe the Eastern Jack resident was still sore that Sheriff Forte injected himself needlessly into the Lee's Summit School Superintendent controversy.

Lee's Summit Police were all over the supposed threats and handled the situation professionally. Then Forte came running to bolster his friends political posturing in the media and wasted big bucks by misusing Sheriff's resources to provide a personal security detail.

Forte walked away from KCPD with a very generous retirement package, a $500,000 overtime bonus, and said he was going to law school. Instead, he talked to his friend Frank White and got the Sheriff's job, where he's working on a 2nd taxpayer supplied retirement package.
