Hundreds of physical inspections of properties may be required because of Missouri law, said Theresa Galvin, county legislature chair.
"If the assessor may increase the assessed valuation of any parcel, sub-class real property by 15 percent since the last assessment, that the assessor shall conduct physical inspection of such property," Galvin said.

Jackson County officials are getting a better perspective on the property assessment SNAFU, and some are advising people not to expect a quick fix.Some property owners were shocked to receive assessments that increased by 200 percent, and some were much higher than that.
