William Jewell College wants to drop rape lawsuit, says schools don't have duty to protect students from crimes
LIBERTY, MO (KCTV) -- William Jewell College has moved to dismiss an ongoing rape lawsuit, saying the school can't be expected to protect its students from third-party crimes. The Liberty school filed the motion in federal court earlier this week, citing previous Missouri precedent that schools can't be held accountable for the criminal acts of third parties.

The duty here is "ordinary care." No individual duty to protect.
