Will Kansas City Help Save The Planet?!?!

The VERY BEST & BRIGHTEST among our blog community share an alert on an upcoming meetup that hopes to change the course of human history.

Metro KC Climate Action Summit 2019

Deets:

"On September 14th, elected officials, business, nonprofit, and organizational leaders; and advocates for climate action will convene to celebrate regional successes, collaborate, and hear expert strategies on ways to advance climate mitigation and adaptation. The Summit will focus on solutions that effectively mitigate greenhouse emissions and share co-benefits that improve the quality of life for Kansas City regional residents."

Meanwhile as floods still threaten the Midwest, locals lean toward organizing rather than debate as the discussion over climate change influences the upcoming 2020 cycle.

  1. On September 14th, elected officials, business, nonprofit, and organizational leaders; and advocates for climate action will convene to celebrate regional successes, collaborate, and hear expert strategies on ways to advance climate mitigation and adaptation.

In short all will waste their time attending another snake oil sales pitch.

  3. Do any of these climate change people realize that the areas flooding are in flood zones? Farmers gamble that it won’t flood and most of the time they win but, every once in awhile they lose, this year they lost but don’t worry, the gubmint will pick up their losses, they always do.

  6. Did any of them fly in, drive in ? How tella conference to save creation of the oh so dangerous green houses gasses ? Oh, but I guess they would not get their free lunch and drinks if they did that. What a bunch of crap, go dig fossil sea shells out of the ground see if that registers any thoughts. Idiots.

  7. Global warming is the biggest money making scam there is! Al Gore cleaned up with this BS. Oh and don't forget how the Obama's flew their dog to HI on a plane all by himself.

Kool aid at the people's temple!

  8. While they're all in one place, get them to figure out how to fix potholes and lower violent crime rates.

  9. ^^^ Toofer - stuff the potholes with dead hoodrats.

  10. @12:19, your idea has to work better than the Used Motor Oil and Cat Litter they're trying to use now.

  11. 10:48 - while I get that some of the people who profess to be progressive on the climate issue don't behave like they are, the science is irrefutable (outside of those 1% of scientists bought and paid for by industry and conservative news outlets).

As far as the areas flooding being in a flood zone, yeah, they are, no disagreement. The issues is the increases in flooding. 50 year flood zones are turning into 5 year and 100 year zones into 10 year.

  12. ^^^ Check out ice core studies. CO2 levels have been way higher than now and temperatures too. Not a man in sight when it happened. Climate should not surprise anyone, but thinking we are the cause is asinine.

  13. What ever happened to the ozone scare? You don’t hear about that one anymore!

12:37 that’s not true, your fudging the numbers. Besides, If no one built or grew crops in flood zones nobody would know any different. Plus, add in the fact that the Corp of engineers has changed the normal flow of the rivers and they in fact have discussed taking these flood zones back and making them nature areas which would stem the flooding in other areas.

  14. 1:45 - statistics disagree with you completely and that's a fact.

  15. 10:48 wake up. we might not be super affected now, but our grandchildren and great grandchildren will be. That's one thing a lot of humans can't wrap their head around, is time. If we let powerful companies continue to pollute the air/rivers/oceans and keep going unchecked our future generations will suffer the consequences. It's not too hard to figure out. We need to be leaders in regulating and set an example for other countries to follow.
