TKC WEEKLY POWER RANKINGS!!!

After the election, we can see things clearly now and here's a glimpse at who really holds the power in Kansas City. For now.

Take a look:

Kansas City Developers

A grassroots citizen initiative petition against them was easily mowed down and now local builders hold nearly every advantage in access to taxpayer funds. Until the market decides otherwise.

Conservative Supporters Of Mayor-Elect Quinton Lucas

The new mayor owes a great deal to his Conservative "friends" and we'll see how they'll continue to show patience will this avowed progressive.

Councilman-Elect Ellington

He doesn't owe Freedom, Inc. a damn thing. He has built his own support network of intensely loyal supporters and his independence as earned respect from both Conservatives & Progressives in Jeff City. His candidacy might the only sign of hope after an otherwise disappointing election.

And so . . .

Once again, the players change but, essentially, it's all the same old song and dance.

To wit . . .

This list has been compiled according to scientific TKC polling and market research data and it's a weekly comprehensive guide to local powerful people, trends and our times.

  1. Kansas City got lucky with Quinton Lucas and the election. It would have been much worse if Jolie Justus was elected. At least there's a fighting chance that we can FINALLY pay attention to infrastructure and basic services.

  2. The developers had to spend thousands of dollars, while the vote yes people didn't spend anything. Short term win but the developers are running out of time change is coming.

Sly's agenda and his candidate was universally rejected. That's gotta be an overall win for KC. Just sayin'

Some day, Brandon Ellington will be your mayor.

  10. I recognize the casts of "Mad Men" and "The Apprentice", and the opening shot from "Fantasy Island", but what TV show does the third photo down come from, "Moving On Up"?

  11. Ellington would be a a great mayor. Hey not only does he not owe FREEDOM Inc. any favors, they actually funded his opponent so he will be able to bend them to his will.

He is a substance over symbolism guy. He looks at things like tax money thrown at the jazz district and re naming paseo and notices it doesn’t do much to help real east side citizens and businesses, only the rent-seeking activist connected types. And he can keep real to his base without needlessly antagonizing right wing types - he had friendly relations with GOP in Jeff city no problem.
