Because they're going out of business, down to a skeleton crew and only seem to be good at publishing op/ed material nowadays . . . The Kansas City Star isn't having any fun with this Mayoral election.
During the primary our blog community committed an EPIC TROLL against the dead-tree hacks and bullied them into going with two nobodies who have already been forgotten by most voters.
Now they're taking the safe choice.
To wit . . .
THE KANSAS CITY STAR ENDORSES QUINTON LUCAS AMID POLING DATA REVEALING THAT HE'S FAR AHEAD IN THIS CONTEST!!!
Their reasoning is silly, anecdotal, myopic and seems like it's crafted by Dave Helling on one of his rants wherein nobody dares interrupt him for fear they might wake everyone who is already asleep.
Basically, here's the logic:
Quinton Lucas is "more apt to accomplish any item on the difficult change agenda they both talk about. And that’s why Lucas has earned The Star’s endorsement ahead of Tuesday’s election."
That's right . . .
THE KANSAS CITY STAR TOUTS QUINTON LUCAS AS AN AGENT OF CHANGE DESPITE HIS NEARLY IDENTICAL VOTING RECORD WITH JOLIE JUSTUS!!!
Get it straight, when politicos promise "change" it means their completely bereft of ideas and don't have any specific policy goals.
Still, the Kansas City Star playing it safe is probably a good plan if only because it gives them more time to think about retirement.
You decide . . .
Newspapers shouldn't make endorsements. It tarnishes their coverage.
ReplyDelete^^^That is not a problem for the Star.
ReplyDeleteEven the Star favors Lucas. Who doesn't favor Lucas at this point? A loss is a loss but this final result could get real ugly for Jolie. Of course anyone with a base level attention span has known this for a long time.
ReplyDeleteDestiny is simply unfolding.
VFL
I actually would lean more toward jolie. I hate them both and think they're trash, but jolie is less likely to be influenced by the east side reverend coalition which has been bad for this city for the last several decades
ReplyDeleteYou say potato; I say potato.
ReplyDeleteStar's real vote is for Ocasio-Cortez and nobody else.
ReplyDeleteThis was a curse. He'll lose by 3 now.
ReplyDeleteKatie Shields stays winning!
ReplyDeleteWell, now we can use the stars own culture to flip it on them and call them homophobic by not going with Jolie. Homophobic and the star is sexist too!
ReplyDeleteKC Star for the patriarchy!
This is the best news Jolie Justus will get all day. She should thank them for it. The Star is political poison and they might have just doomed Quinton to finishing 2nd place.
ReplyDeleteNo we know how Johnson County will vote. Luckily they don't have a say in KCMO.
ReplyDeleteQ endorsements - Cops, Firefighters, AFT and the Star
ReplyDeleteJJ endorsements - TIF addicted Developers and Hall/Fowler, lol
If I was running for political office the Star endorsing me would be the last thing I would want.
ReplyDeleteIf he is elected, the first change must be the city manager. If he doesn’t, he will not be successful.
ReplyDeleteJustus is Sly James in a dress.
ReplyDeleteThe red star endorsement is like a number one draft pick making the cover of sports illustrated, Lucas is doomed.
ReplyDeleteThe never ending money pit called the third district has a fat fake rev and an AOC clone running for clowncil, it’s going from bad to worse for us taxpayers.
ReplyDeleteBoth candidates are promising an extended childhood for all, lived out in a universal safe space, where all goods and services come magically free from a kindly parent-like government, and the sunny days are spent training unicorns to find rainbows.
ReplyDeleteDo we not live in the countries greatest democratic utopia where dreams come true?
Posted this in another thread but I wanted to make sure it gets recorded here as well. Quinton Lucas will win +7. Go back and check that I'm right about this.
ReplyDeleteVote Clay!
