City Council to put MLK-Paseo question on November ballot
KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) - The debate over the name of a historic street in Kansas City will now go in front of voters this fall. During a meeting Thursday, the City Council unanimously passed a plan to put the choice of changing the of name The Paseo to Martin Luther King Boulevard on the November ballot.
I think it will be fun. Probably get some good contracts out of it.
ReplyDelete^^^^^ So gross. Yes there will be consultants but this is an issue about voter rights. The council did the right thing!
DeleteThe Revs win again. This will one of the best opportunities for fundraising and donations that they've seen in years. Sometimes I wonder why KC "neighborhood" activists don't grow up and learn how KC politics works.
DeleteExcellent call TK!
ReplyDeleteA great day for Kansas City voters!
ReplyDeleteMLK is not a national symbol any more than Bill Cosby.
ReplyDeleteJust the latest example of how the usual way of underhanded insider decision making by what passes for government in KCMO regularly comes back to bite the community in the butt.
ReplyDeleteFirst the council gets intimidated and rolled by the revs.
Then spends money and time installing the new street signs.
And now, with a public vote coming and a very good chance of reversing the decision, KCMO can suffer the national embarrassment of REMOVING the King name from a street.
Probably a first of its kind event in the country.
And will certainly invite a lawsuit by the King family which is notoriously very unhappy about not being able to cash in on the patriarch's name.
Lose-lose.
Congratulations!!
A typical Tonyfied headline. There should be no national disgrace unless facts are withheld. The majority of opponents have stated they’re fine with naming a different street (especially a numbered street) for MLK, just not the historically relevant Paseo.
ReplyDelete^^^^^ you're here, it worked. Shut up biotch!
ReplyDeleteObama Parkway is next.
Change Troost to Malcolm X blvd.
The people have spoken. You white devils at the Northeast News will lose.
Trump Blvd is what Kansas City really NEEDS
ReplyDeleteIt is about time that KCMO lets the people reject this nonsense in the same fashion they did Slie's phony pre-K tax.
ReplyDelete^^^^ MLK voters will win.
ReplyDeleteThis is actually a dummocrap plan to keep the people divided so they can have control and take away your rights, simple really
ReplyDelete^^^ good point, sLIE has been doing this exact thing
ReplyDeleteRevs don't want you whiteys moving in on their turf. This should scare you away.
ReplyDeleteIt's not Kansas City that will be disgraced, it's the City Council. And they deserve it.
ReplyDelete7:09 FTW
ReplyDeleteName it Eldridge Cleaver Blvd.
ReplyDeleteTony, stop worrying about things you don't understand.
ReplyDeleteThe way to avoid "National Disgrace" is an immediate (pre-November)Council Ordinance restoring the Paseo name and changing the name of another street to MLK Boulevard.
ReplyDeleteI suggest 47th Street, it was renamed for someone who has permanently moved out of town..
As long as the King family wants paid, fuck 'em.
ReplyDeleteThis is stupid! Who cares about the Paseo. That Canady is just trying to remain relevant!
ReplyDeleteSorry negroes, not sorry. You lose like always.
ReplyDeleteThe Council is an undemocratic body who time and time again have funded projects which are in no way supported by the majority of KC voters.
ReplyDeletePrediction: MLK vote will win by 22 points.
ReplyDeleteTrump Blvd what have to be a real shit hole. See what I did there?
ReplyDeleteYeah, you put 'what' where 'would' should be!
DeleteAnd, you spelled that name wrong. It's B.A.R.R.Y.
Haha!! Tony literally insisted that there was NO WAY the city council would allow this ordinance to pass and get on the ballot. Now he's trying to say he told you so. Aw, poor lil' Tony can't admit he was 100% wrong all the way.
ReplyDeleteThe song of the day is the Spin Doctors "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong." Enjoy!!
The vote will be rigged!!
