TKC SUNDAY MUST READ!!! REDEMPTION STORY AFTER STA SWASTIKA HOT MESS?!?
It's not exactly a tale of absolution or a newsflash but this public tv mag update is more of a refresher after a not so surprising revelation that some young women attending one of the most elite private schools in town can be just as mean as anybody else.
Then again, since our blog community is familiar with the oeuvre of the journalist who wrote this missive, we realize that he doesn't have a lot of love for Catholic institutions and their mission of continuing the faith.
First and foremost, we let the work speak for itself:
Bill Tammeus: Students, Staff Swastika Incident
"In September 2017, a photo posted on Snapchat showed a group of St. Teresa’s Academy students posing in front of a table with beer pong cups arranged in the shape of a left-facing swastika. Social media exploded . . ."
"Since then, a lot has happened at the 600-student school, including: expressions of righteous anger from students appalled by their classmates’ vile action; work by the faculty, administration and board to manage the crisis and right the ship; apologies; forgiveness; a mandatory retreat with the class of which the offending students were a part; diversity training with an emphasis on interfaith understanding; outside speakers; outside consultants, and more."
There's balance in this report and just a bit of hope that diversity training along with a litany of admonition from social media, activists and busybodies of all sorts will bring about change . . . Meanwhile, it's hard not to notice that an ongoing KCPS rape problem, continued accreditation struggles locally, a rise in school shootings and a vaping epidemic might be more of a cause for concern than the legacy of stupid Internets party clips from Catholic school girls.
You decide . . .
