TKC Sneak Peek: Tempers Flare Over Jackson County Property Taxes Today

Today the legislature confronted protest and criticism from Westside residents today and we've got even more on this topic coming up. For now, let's note that over 8000 appeals have been filed so far as this crisis grows worse.

Here's a primer on how to fight unfair property tax assessments.

And another glimpse at EPIC lines and frustration today:

Jackson county residents line up to file assessment appeals

INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) - Monday is the last day for property owners to file an informal appeal with the Jackson County Assessor for their 2019 property assessment. There were lines out the door Monday morning as residents waited to drop off appeals papers, and there were still people waiting in line that afternoon to file their appeal with the Jackson County Assessor.

SLie and Frank sure screwed the western part of KCMO. They want the residents for the failed fair weather toy train.

  2. Frank would not face the people talking at this meeting. He literally turned his back on people who voted for him.

  3. These people, these taxpayers should be grateful they are "investors" in awesome projects like this.

The developers of the Uptown Lofts project are moving ahead with a planned hotel at the corner of Valentine and Broadway at a faster pace than originally envisioned, winning approval for incentives from a city development agency last week.

Construction on the 95- to 120-room hotel could begin by the end of the year following approval of 25-year property tax abatement and sales tax exemption on construction materials by the Planned Industrial Expansion Authority.

  4. All Frankie boy knows is more money solves everything, that’s why his house is in foreclosure, for the third time in four years. The man can’t take care of his own money let alone the taxpayers money. I have no idea what his retirement money from Major League Baseball is but I’ve heard it’s a couple hundred thousand on top of whatever Jackson county pays him. Typical of today’s demmocrims to take every penny you have.

  8. Good luck with the tax break! The appraisers work for the bank and the bank works for big business, do you really think they are going to help you? Suck it up you voted for it.

  9. Get out of Jackson County. It won't change in your lifetime. I mean, look at the population...let Planned Parenthood have time to reduce the Black population.
