TKC MUST READ!!! MAYOR SLY PENS FUNDRAISING LETTER FOR JOLIE JUSTUS!!!

This morning an interesting message was sent our way that deserves a look given the passionate plea the communique contains.

To wit . . .

INTERCEPTED BY AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS: READ THIS FUNDRAISING NOTE TO JOLIE JUSTUS SUPPORTERS CRAFTED BY MAYOR SLY JAMES!!!

It took awhile but we ran this by a few insiders who noticed that this ask was intended ONLY for the most dedicated Jolie Justus supporters who have already ponied up a bit of cash to earn a place on her mailing list.

Here's the argument and Mayor Sly seeming exceptionally vehement in his support of the Council Lady.

Checkit:

Mayor Sly James: Leadership

It has been my greatest honor to serve as your Mayor for the last 8 years. And as my time in office winds down, I’ve been reflecting on what it takes to lead a diverse, growing, and sometimes complicated city like ours. This job requires more than sound bites and rhetoric. Kansas Citians deserve an experienced leader they can trust to work hard, every day.

In order to continue our momentum, and expand it to our neighborhoods, the next Mayor must be ready to be effective on day one - that’s Jolie Justus. There isn’t time to get up to speed when we are in the middle of big projects, like the new single airport terminal and continuing to build economic activity on Troost, and when there is so much left to do in our neighborhoods. Jolie is ready to hit the ground running and has the experience this city needs.

I also know that you can count on Jolie to tell the truth, even when the truth is difficult to hear. After all, leaders don’t flip-flop when things get tough. A real leader has to make tough decisions, but also bring people together to build a consensus. And a real leader shows up to work every day. Not just once in awhile when the cameras are rolling. With Jolie, what you see is what you get and that is proven, effective, and honest leadership.

Thank you for your support over the last eight years. Without everyday Kansas Citians like you, we would not have this community pride that we see everyday on t-shirts, car bumpers and in the way we treat visitors and each other.

Join me in voting for Jolie Justus to keep up our momentum and expand it to every corner of the city. And join me in contributing to her campaign today.

Raising the funds necessary to run a modern, effective campaign like Jolie’s isn’t easy, and it certainly isn’t fun. By contributing $25, $50, $100, or more, you’re helping her reach undecided voters in the final days of the race. Click here to give today.

Sincerely,

Mayor Sly James

Will it work???

  1. So far Jolie has much more cash than Quinton. I think they're going to need even more if they want to make an effective last push.

He stated "momentum" twice, but he forgot to precede one with "murder" and the other with "debt bomb".

Plus, look at that last paragraph. No wonder Biggie BowTie isn't looking so frosty now. He says this fronting for funds isn't easy, nor fun.

  5. Wow. This is a textbook violation of the KC Charter Code of Ethics. A sitting mayor is fundraising for a successor candidate? Ummm, KC Star, you wanna report on this one?

  6. I see this negativity again for a message that was honestly heartfelt and sincere from the best mayor that Kansas City has ever had. I seriously do not know what's wrong with the people who read this blog but they seem just bent on destroying everything that this city has worked to accomplish for so many years.

One thing I do want to make clear is that there is absolutely no ethical violation in the comments from Mayor James. He is entitled to his opinion and he has worked so hard to make this city best in the midwest that he should have a say and be heard on who he would like to see as his successor.

I don't expect that they'll be much reasonable discussion on this issue but I do think that it should be noted that most of the people of Kansas City support the agenda of Mayor James and would like to see that momentum continue with Jolie Justus.

    1. Your master is the worst Mayor in the town's history. Like Nero, Mayor Bullhorn indulged his own enthusiasms while ignoring the real issues in the place he was supposed to govern.

I apologize to Nero, though. The Emperor may have been insane, corrupt, and murderously cruel, but at least he was his own boss.

Run along now and get the old ambulance chaser another entree.

  11. Sly obviously has a deal with Justus that she won't spill the beans about all the deals and unintended consequences that the public still doesn't know about.
And his desperation to hold up his end of the bargain seems to be growing every day.
Why doesn't Justus ask for a state audit of KCMO finances?
Lots of bodies buried and many many shoes yet to fall.
Sly's real legacy has only barely begun.

  12. I think a lot of people on this block will be disappointed when Kansas City doesn't show the same kind of negativity that is published here daily. Look at the votes the streetcar one overwhelmingly the new airport was supported by an overwhelming margin and people are looking forward to seeing a new convention hotel in downtown. This is some of the most productive and financially beneficial work that Kansas City has ever seen. What's more is that Jolie wants to continue that level of progress. The only thing I see holding it back is that negative people believe they can stop the will of KC MO voters.

    1. It's 'blog', stooge.

You know who won't be looking forward to all that stuff?

The murder victims your master doesn't care about. Mayor Bullhorn has spent all his time beggbeg and bullying to serve developers, and his criminality is only matched by his incompetence.

#5 in violent crime, financial ruin, and crumbling infrastructure. That's your master's legacy.

He's probably ready for another entree, slave.

      Shame on you.

  13. Hey, shit-for-brains GO4KC. The streetcar was a rigged election and is STILL a taxpayer drain with no revenue generated. The airport was one big LIE with taxpayer dollars used to fund it. It’s now over $800M over budget and counting. Mayor James lies like Trump and we know it.

Oh, yeah. The Mayor certainly did NOT fix roads or bridges. Look around. Complete roadway failures across the 6000 miles of pavement. KC got lots of shiny new toys but the basic infrastructure remain hopelessly broken. THAT is considered a failure of leadership.

  14. Where's my letter? Wow, hope I didn't toss it in the barrel as I came from mailbox thru the garage, as I do all political mailings.

Will vote, but not for mayor. The Twiddle-dees are both useless. KC is doomed.

  16. Do you get out much, gopher? Drive much? Pothole much? Fantasy much?

It's amazing how little it would take to make KC voters happy. Fix the streets, maintain the infrastructure, and so on. Forget the hotels, the streetcar, and the touristy frou frou (to use a really good former mayor's words). It's really not that difficult.

Of course there's not as much opportunity for graft.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hey Go4kc;
you can spout that garbage about the KC voters all you like, but saying it does NOT make it true; we see through the games you play; strategically placing highly questionable plans on the ballot when the fewest number of voters are known to participate; very strategic and usually works; but don't sit there and spout how the will of the people supported the airport, the train and the hotel....they didn't; only a small proportion of KC voters came out to vote AND those that did, narrowly passed it. These things are NOT the will of the people, just the will of those who came out to vote; just like the mayor's race...how many voters are going to be on vacation in June, school is out and you folks know that not many will vote which is why it is designed that way. Its all garbage politics.

  21. I am disappointed my tax payer dollars are being used to pay mayor Slie to bully people for more money to support his favorite replacement candidate. KCMO has more important projects, like failing infrastructure, broken sewer pipes, potholes, murder rate, and the list goes on that Slie should be addressing.

    ReplyDelete
  22. If Jollie can't win with all the money and the incumbent mayor endorsement there goes the end of Sly James Legacy and hopefully the last we'll hear of JJ.

  23. Definitely appears city minions are out if full force today on TKC trying to dictate the narrative.

  26. When the Mayor starts that momentum bullshit, he only shows that he stays at city hall and downtown. The potholes are still everywhere, trash piles are in many neighborhoods, panhandlers on most busy intersections and just the lack of city services.

Slie stated "After all, leaders don’t flip-flop when things get tough." Evidently things were not tough when Jolie flip-flopped on supporting the Paseo name change.

When Slie states "when there is so much left to do in our neighborhoods." he must be talking about pothole maintenance, crime control and removing trash.

  30. This is the amnesia campaign.
The candidates have forgotten how little they even tried to accomplish during their recent tenure and how upside-down their priorities were.
And they HOPE the public has forgotten about all that too and also fails to remember the empty promises that have been made during the campaign and will quickly be forgotten after the election.
And their first trip to the Camber board room to be told what to do for the next four years.
    It never changes.

  33. Corrupt City Hall.
Don't vote for her or is it Him?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Cash won't win this election. The only way it could've was if Quinton wasn't even in the same ballpark as Jolie, but he's raised plenty on his own to compete financially and run an efficient campaign.

The fundraising actually provides a pretty good parallel to the candidates themselves:
One raises a ton of money, has no idea how to use it effectively, and ultimately ends up wasting it all the same way she always has in back alley deals or roads to nowhere.
The other raises less, but does more with it, and ultimately runs a successful campaign with little fat or impossible promises to keep.

    Which one do you favor?

    Vegas favors Lucas.
The prudent Kansas Citian favors Lucas.
The realistic Kansas Citian favors Lucas.
The Kansas Citian in need of another chance and a fresh start favors Lucas.

The honest and humble Kansas Citian favors Quinton Lucas for Mayor.

The city will continue to LOSE, potholes will become sinkholes, and the city will continue to use tax payers dollars to build shit nobody needs or wants. The Fire Department will continue to suck the taxpayers dry for a service that wouldnt be worth it if it was FREE.
