TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KCFD HOT MESS!!! LEADERSHIP CHANGE UNDERWAY AMID KANSAS CITY POLITICAL CONFLICT!!!

Behind the scenes, tempers flare at the Kansas City Fire Department and potentially explosive political conflict among bosses has ignited what could be a radical transformation.

Moreover . . . Because City Hall and the MSM are dedicated to keeping Kansas City stupid on the topic of local government, this news item won't break until much later despite the fact that we've had more than a few KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS attempt to share a few different elements of this story that have been silenced so far.

Again, we'll tread lightly because there are actually more than a few people involved in this drama whom TKC greatly admires and appreciates.

The basics and the essential truth . . .

THERE IS A MASSIVE LEADERSHIP SHIFT UNDERWAY RIGHT NOW AT KCFD AMID VICIOUS UNION INFIGHTING!!!

Caveat, yes, union dudes ALWAYS fight with one another and there's no shortage of gossip and double dealing among politically motivated denizens. But this time it's worse as fire dudes jockey for position as a new administration takes power.

Respectfully, we're obliged to note that many of our longtime favorite fire department workers have consistently lamented the "politics" that has become an integral part of KCMO firefighter life.Real talk: 99.8% of KCFD is comprised of people who would rather spend their days and risk their lives trying to help people in need rather than attempt to garner political power.

Nevertheless, in the aftermath of a contentious election. There is no denying effort to wield influence and garner more clout among all KCMO departments including many among 1st-responder leadership.

And so, let's enjoy toasty blind item goodness because this hot mess is getting serious but we're smart enough to keep a safe distance . . .

- An FD leader has been temporarily banned from all KCMO fire houses because of an altercation that was either akin to an MMA smackdown, a school yard kerfuffle or a classic movie spilled drink insult.

- Could we get a new lady KCFD Fire Chief??? That seems too hopeful but possibly a hint at one of the most impressive signs of change that the department could celebrate.

- The radio silence on this dept. turmoil is the first big favor to Mayor-Elect Quinton Lucas who is championing "systemic" change whilst also putting some of the most connected longtime power players in key positions at 12th & Oak.

And so, as usual, our blog community TKC reporting will spark newsies into action as legacy media burns out or is simply tempered by an exceptionally likeable new elected official taking power.

Meanwhile, TKC KEEPS THE FIRE . . .

Developing . . .

Comments

  1. Radical change for all city hall departments isn't a bad thing at all. If Quinton can help bring this about then he's already doing his job far better than his predecessor.

    1. At least you acknowledge that fire is always fighting with one another. Never seen a department with such a culture of infighting. Overland Park FD on the on the other hand has much more support for one another and even the guys in KCK can stick together when it comes down to it. Having worked with KCFD, I think the first thing they need to do is try to build some support for each other beyond all of that "tow the line" garbage. Change is DEFINITELY a good thing to happen.

  3. I've come to the conclusion that KC is constantly "hangry" from too much sugar in the local diet. That's just one of many reasons that our politics is so dysfunctional.

  6. Any guesses who got to Trump and ordered him to flip-flop on the Iran Air Strikes?
My money's on the Saudi Royal Family.

By the way, it's a matter of record that Trump tweeted in 2011 that "Obama plans to start a war with Iran in order to hep his polling numbers." FORESHADOWING?

  9. Too bad that it all comes down to politics. We used to have a department and city and police who were more concerned about skill and doing the job. Now it's all based on who you know and what favors you can get after an election. Overall the quality still goes down and the people in charge aren't worried about response times anymore, just waiting to see the next promotion that they're in line for and what they can get.

12:38 It's the Saudis & Israelis who want him to go to war with Iran.

How do we know he really did a flip flop. This brinkmanship may have been his plan all along.

We will be going to war with Iran, soon. That has always been the plan. Trump said that Israel was our greatest ally. You may have thought it was the English & the French, but Trump has his own debts to pay.

Here's the problem: That was a state of the art stealth drone. They weren't supposed to have the capability of knowing that it was there, let alone the capability of shooting it down. The military needs to re-evaluate regardless of what Bolton & Pompeo may want to see happen.

  13. STFU Byron!

OPFD has its issues and they are doozies at times but they do a better job of keep the issues in house and not airing the dirty laundry. Like the lady firefighter who was learning to drive a pumper in a Price Chopper parking lot and rip the whole front end off a brand new Dodge Charger. Also you would be surprised at how many OPFD members have files for bankruptcy trying to live the high live in Blue Valley area, big houses, boats, new cars the works.

Drama! Since the fire peeps are "housed" together, it's got to be a special kind of "workings" that affects their interactions. The dish on this mess, as TKC refers to it, may be all smoke and little fire! Can hardly wait.

I keep at my two brothers to write their memoirs about FD careers. So glad many of my dad's FD recollections were gathered and put in print. Real glad some of his prankster joking around didn't seriously harm him and others. He was so proud of the fact that he got his big cray Irish family raised and he could brag we NEVER had a fire at our little home on Strawberry Hill for his four and a half decades there.

  24. KCFD has not had a fire chief since Smokey Dyer and the department has been in a spiral since, as the city manager has appointed tools as fire chiefs and ran the department from the 29th floor.

He promoted a female former deputy chief to assistant city manager for public safety that is being paid from the fire department budget is imbedded in the fire departments operations only. Why didn’t the city manager just promote her as fire chief last year, instead of the inexperienced battalion chief?

    What’s really going on?

    ReplyDelete
  25. KCFD can’t be united without a strong, professionally experienced fire chief with ethics and a reputation for fairness and honesty. That can not and will not happen with the current city manager.

  30. 8:57, that will never happen while they are part of the most corrupt mafia union still on the planet - The IAFF! CORRUPT, CORRUPT, CORRUPT!!!!!

  31. Come on guys, KCFD male FF's are either chasing pussy while married or sucking dick. Straight female FF's are either getting abused and harrased by male fire fighters or are lesbian and beating up male firefighters. The department is a hotter mess than any fire they claim to fight that they probabley set to keep a presense for a service that could be downgraded in so many ways and save taxpayers millions, its a simple fact, and the department is a joke!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Archetypal b.s. is so overplayed....6/22/19, 11:46 AM

12:41, accusing FFs of arson to "...keep a presence for a service that could be downgraded in so many ways and save taxpayers millions..." is seriously wrong. There's no proof of such criminality in efforts for job security. Plus, decreasing rosters and deploying less equipment is a recipe for spending a bit less while risking a lot more.

The FD functions in a major way like "insurance" coverages. Ya better have enough "coverages" in place and hope to not need to use it too often, than to not have adequate "coverages" and desparately need them at catastrophes. A single, or several events of major proportions could risk much in lives and properties, when the capacities for responses are inadequate.

Sufficient staffing and enough reliable equipment helps to avoid excess fatigue on both humans and machines. There has to be the legally mandated numbers of qualified personnel available on rosters for the population count, coverage area totals, and topography. Lakes, rivers, and flood zones require water rescue specialists.

Some services and skilled labor concerns do well without union affiliations. But, emergency response professionals are similar to the members of highly skilled trades associations. Fair labor standards for commensurate compensations and protections are better secured via organized representation. An acceptable labor contract for FD, PD, and plenty of other public services personnel is the additional FAIR COMPENSATION they deserve for their loved ones and themselves to IGNORE, OR THUMB THEIR NOSES, IF THEY CHOOSE for the disrespect and underappreciation from JOKERS and JEALOUS types LIKE YOU!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Add, after the water rescue groups, the HazMat response teams. Areas of industrial, medical, waste management, and much else require this specialized division of public services.

  34. 11:46, If you are so proud of the worthless services (KCFD,KCPD), why then do Kansas City Tax payers sit on hold when calling 911 for your spectacular service that is suposed to benefit this community as you claim???. FF's make bank for what they do and rarely do, how about you motherfuckers shave some off your hero bank bank, spread the wealth and use the shavings and hire enough people to answer the GODDAMN phone when someone calls 911, cant wait for your respose hose dragger, entitled democrate peice of true shit! Your service in KCMO is a joke, you are all showboaters, and political tools through your propaganda!!! I sure hope when your mom is on the floor in Cardiac Arrest your dumb ass gets put on hold for 10 minuets when you make the call to the 911 KCFD good-ole boys club!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. 11:46 - If you do your job right, you wouldnt need the protection of a union, if you dont like the benifits and pay because the company you work for isnt union affilated then find a company that meets your needs!! There are many great companies out there that dont want union affilation so they pay great enough and have benefits great enough that their employees have no to reason to organize or want to pay UNION DUES. Unions and anyone who supports that shit is a liberal and a democrate crying bitch that demand more than they deserve!! True hard work, a honest work ethic doesnt need union coverage, Most working people are not affilated with a union and many of them get better pay and benifits than you entitled morons do. I worked for a company that was unionized and that union turned on the dues payers and sold us out, so fuck unions, so if you are apart of one and think its the best thing since sliced cheese, I am glad the kool aid works for you! Unions are nothing more that a political entity that needs your dues money to get their agenda done which has little to do with you at the end of the day.

    ReplyDelete
  36. 11:46, I am not jealous, I actually feel sorry for you that you arent strong enough, work ethic worthy enough, that you feelthe need to pay Union Dues to a entity to cover your worthless self, I get it, you are a KCFD FF (more than obvious from your emotional post) but see us tax paying citizens dont give a fuck about your frat house!! We pay to have emergency services and not ony do us KCMO residents pay big to have substandard emergency services, so does anyone who doesnt live in the city! Your service is deplorable PERIOD!!! And the tax imposed on people who work in KCMO who dont live in KCMO is scandulious!! Shame on you greedy mother fuckers!! Fortunatley I moved out of the KCMO city limits (it will save my life if I ever have a medical emergency, because where I now live if I dial 911 someone answers the phone on the 1st ring - thats life saving in emergencies! I quit my job I had in KCMO because the E-tax was a joke! KCMO public saftey- aka KCFD, and KCPD is also joke. Homicides are at a all time high, EMS response times and Cardiac Arrest saves are at a all time low, and callers calling 911 being put on hold shows the whole true and real picture of KCMO emergency services. But the fire truck stays shined up, the Fire Union and its minions stay happy with their ridiculious Pension benefits, self serving , self serving, self serving, do your fucking job and start serving the citizens and e-tax payers who pay your wages. The public is wising up to the Fire service in this city, and soon you will have to work to earn your money as a city employee!!!!!
