Low-income African-American community denizens are facing the same gentrification confronted by Midtown/Downtown denizens and in the coming weeks and months we'll enjoy the artistry of their complaints as they are forced to pack their bags like everybody else. Take a look:
Emotions mixed as Troost Ave. revitalization project begins
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Troost Avenue corridor continues to change as several projects are underway in Kansas City, Missouri. The the KCMO City Council Planning and Zoning Committee recently gave the green light to incentives for Midtown Redevelopment Partners to develop the Shankman and Michelson buildings into retail space, offices and a future home home for the Midwest American Indian Museum.
Troost has been revitalised more than any street in KC.

ReplyDeleteWhats wrong with asset inflation driven predatory development?
ReplyDeleteLook at the positive all this silly looking blight will be replaced with glass buildings and corporate chains stores and restaurants.

ReplyDeleteIt means they make money on assets going up in price. Go to college dumb fuck
DeleteThe "community" has been in charge of Troost for the last 50+ years and it's only continued to go to shit and pedestrians are getting run over at bus stops. Think it's time for a change
ReplyDelete^^yea but..who gives a shit what you think?
ReplyDeleteTroost - the road surface itself - is terrible. From eaat downtown to Hyde Park to midtown around this area all the way thru umkc/rochkhurst and out South to 85th. For cars and bikes it's 'hell on wheels'.
ReplyDeleteWho cares about white or black. What the Eastside needs is green. Money. Investments. City should not ignore infrastructure e.g. Troost roadbed.
I have spoken.
