Show-Me Kansas City Star Demand For Public Outrage On Missouri Traffic Stop Data

All your Facebook friends are watching "When They See Us" or pretending to and getting mad anyway. Meanwhile, police stats trigger dead-tree media that hopes to exploit a persecution complex in order to boost falling revenues, ad sales and subscriptions. Checkit:

Black drivers in Missouri 91% more likely to be stopped than whites. Where's the outrage?

A male suspect who allegedly shot at police while running from an attempted traffic stop was wounded in the ankle when police fired on him near 34th Street and Garfield Avenue. Driving while black in Missouri is becoming an even more perilous proposition.

  1. Funny thing, they never explained how this was supported by data.

  2. What percentage of crime is committed by black men? Just saying.

  3. Around 90% of the homicides in KCMO involve members of the black community.
    Where's the outrage?

  4. A more in-depth analysis of available data would likely debunk allegations of racially targeted disparity.
Break out the reason for the car stop, whether licensing irregularities, driving erratically or defective vehicle equipment failures.
This could be useful to help minorities see the specific behavior that gets them onto the policeman's radar.

Hostile belligerent interactions with the police are a frequent occurrence among some cultures and would likely turn a simple taillight warning incident into a written summons.
Well, no. This is the KC Star.

  5. This nonsense from the failed Star is one of the reasons the crime rate is high. In a slie way the Star is playing the race card.

  6. 4:07 hit the nail smack on the head, it’s clear the koloreds don’t understand or obey the laws, why does the red star keep rehashing the same stupid story every four or fives months or so.

  7. Race baiting from the fallen star. Anything to try to generate interest in their failed publication. Go anywhere that a lot of black’s vehicles might be parked. You can’t begin to count the ones with outdated plates or temp tags, and that’s not even getting into those with malfunctioning head/tail lights, etc. Combine all this with the fact that blacks commit a disproportionate amount of crime in the country and then you’ll realize that the 91% number should be even higher.

  9. This is what happens when J-School students take grievance studies classes insteand of a basic statistics class. They come out knowing less than when they went in. And it gets worse when they spend a few years inside the groupthink bubble.

  10. Good to see the KC star editorial board getting dumb and dumber by the day.
With opinions like that- it’s easy to see why the are going down hill.
While No one is aware where they certify idiots- if someone needed to certify idiots- the editorial board would be an awesome place to start.
You can only hope they have a mass resignation to protest their own cluelessness.

  11. The cops are just doing their jobs. The probability of making an arrest is high when they pull over a black driver.

  12. I told Alexa today:
    “Alexa- enable the KC Star”.
She said she can’t- taxpayers are already doing that.
I told her again- “Alexa- enable the KC Star”
I endured 5 minutes of laughter...

  14. I asked Alexa why my dick was so small.
She said it wasn’t - but then again she is only right about enabling...

  15. To fix the Driving while black problem in Missouri just employ only black cops that should fix the problem, however when I rarely see a cop in this city have someone pulled over alot of times it is a black cop that has a black guy pulled over, so there is that.

  16. Same old shit we've heard for years. Reason is simple. Percentage of black criminals is so heavy there's a good chance a traffic stop will reveal a criminal. Problem is the perp won't be prosecuted to an extent to keep him off the street very long.

  17. Because it’s slim to none anyone on the KC star editorial board has a statistics degree- they go back to the race card to explain their prejudices.
Look at their readership of whites vs. non-whites to explain their success. Of course they won’t print that and hard to know why they hide that...lol.
A bleeding-liberal-heart will leave the Star exactly like socialist Venezuela: Broke with ideals that are wrong and don’t work- Karma.

  18. The same allegation was made a few years ago in New Jersey. On a particular stretch of highway, many more blacks were being pulled over than any other demographic. The state hired an investigator. The investigator examined the highway from the perspective of where the state police were viewing passing cars, and learned that it was impossible to tell the race of the driver from those vantage points. Of course, the report was quickly swept under the rug.

I suspect the same is true with respect to most of the traffic stops in Missouri. The police focus on the vehicle, not the driver. When the decision to stop the car is made, the officer rarely has any idea if the driver is black, white or green.
