The Kansas City Public Library is doing away with fees for overdue materials starting July 1. Library representatives announced they will also forgive any previously-incurred late fees. The move is part of an effort to increase library traffic by removing one obstacle that keeps patrons from returning to the library.

Why should they pursue late fees with the windfall from the property tax reaming just crammed up everyone's ass?

Still not sure how this is going to keep riffraff from stealing books, etc. and selling them to used book stores for some quick cash.

Has it occurred to anyone at the library that this will create longer wait times for books? What's the motivation to return a book in a timely manner if there are no late fees?
