INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - A sign outside of the Sterling Full Gospel Church in Independence alarmed and upset some people in the community. The sign read, which said "A boy is not a girl," has since been removed, but that didn't head off the outrage.

Yes, people have a baby showers to gift things used AFTER the birth. When the baby arrives, sometime in the future. They don't buy the presents for use by a fetus. What would a fetus do with it? That's why there is no fetus shower.
There are also no definable sex organs in early fetal development to assign a gender. But that's also misses the point. Individuals choose their own gender identify when they are aware of it. Parents don't choose or assign that for their kids.
