You decide . . .

  1. This is stupid. they should call out houses appraised for more than they're worth. I'm glad the owner isn't paying much property taxes

  2. How come they didn't get a 25 year tax abatement like they do for new houses in Beacon Hill?

    Weird

  3. Ha! If you are a crony then you get a free pass. Unfortunately the cities located in Jackson County are responsible for having their inspectors report new construction to the county. The county in turn gives a portion back to the city. Instead of penalizing cities like Lake Lotawana, Independence etc. for failing to provide adequate manpower to collect and report. It's easier to slap tax levies on the public than get off their asses and do their jobs

several years ago, Lotawana built a whole community at 50 hwy and 7 with a CID.
The whole thing failed, they went bankrupt, and of course, the residents got slapped with taxes for several years unreported to the county who thought it was raw land. Tried to cover their butts.. Lotawana Community improvement District. Google it. Now the County is running around breaking the backs of taxpayers because there is NO oversight. STUPID

  4. Gail Beatty... less than honest? That is the understatement of the day. She is downright criminal minded.

  5. The director of assessment (now Gail Beatty) is also supposed to file a report with the legislative auditor and the clerk of the county legislature that details any residential properties that increase more than 50% in value or increase more than $50,000. The rules also apply to commercial property. In that case, the report should include commercial properties that spike more than 100,000% or 50% in value.

County legislators didnt get the report? Shocking! *eyeroll*
