KANSAS CITY 2019 HOMICIDE #59: URBAN CORE KILLING CONTINUES UNABATED AS QUINTON LUCAS ELECTED MAYOR!!!
First up, we share news that's more important to the every day lives of Kansas City residents as the spate of inner-city violence persists.
One man died Tuesday after a shooting on Monroe Avenue near 41st Street, Kansas City, Missouri, police said. Officers found the man in the 4100 block of Monroe Avenue around 4:15 p.m
The level of killing continues to rise this year over last. Sadly, the topic of crime prevention didn't merit much meaningful discussion despite an exhaustive array of debates.
Also tonight, the front runner earned a victory over a lady who didn't really seem to want the job . . .
Kansas City Voters Elect Quinton Lucas Mayor
KSHB: QLucas promised to address public safety and help get Kansas City off of the top 10 (Top 5, Actually) most dangerous cities list. He said community policing would be central to his plan as well as hiring more detectives to clear homicides and addressing mental health within criminal justice.
The margin was bigger than a lot of readers predicted but very few people doubted the outcome.
More to the point . . .
IN POST-GAME INTERVIEWS JOLIE JUSTUS SEEMS RELIEVED THAT SHE LOST!!!
Let's not forget that she was quick to jump out when the opportunity presented itself AND the unions pushed her far more aggressively than she pursued the job.
And so we ask . . .
WILL QUINTON LUCAS HAVE MUCH SUCCESS AS KANSAS CITY MAYOR?!?!?
What we know for sure is that the "weak-mayor" form of government will certainly present a challenge who functioned mostly as a swing vote during his quickie council tenure.
You decide . . .
