Kansas City man charged in deadly shooting of 17-year-old

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A 25-year-old Kansas City man is accused of fatally shooting a 17-year-old driver who then crashed into a building near 63rd Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in April, Jackson County prosecutors said Monday.

MISSION, Kan. - A puppy was found at the bottom of a dumpster with puncture wounds on June 3, according to a Facebook post by a Kansas animal shelter. Unleashed Pet Rescue and Adoption put pictures of the dog on their Facebook page, saying a good Samaritan found him and brought him to the animal shelter.

INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) - A suspect that was wanted for felony shoplifting, has now been captured. 31-year-old Derick J. Peknik is described as being 6 feet, 6 inches tall, 240 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. On May 23, 2019, Peknik was suspected of a felony shoplift from a store on 39th street in Independence, Missouri.

KCK man gets four years for moving over 150 pounds of marijuana

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City, Kansas man is going to prison for his role in helping move 168 pounds of marijuana to a residence in the 900 block of Riverview. Felipe Cano-Porras, 32, will spend four years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
