KS gives prelim. STAR Bond approval to 2 JoCo hockey arenas

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Youth and amateur hockey is one step closer to coming to Johnson County, Kansas. A spokesperson from the Kansas Department of Commerce confirmed the agency gave preliminary approval for two developers to use STAR Bonds to build arenas.

  1. Sure lets build two fancy hockey areas within 5 miles of one another. Start the countdown to which one fails first if both get the go ahead to be built.

  2. There used to be an ice rink at 135th and Quivira. That one is gone. Not sure why these two will be any different. I predict one will be indoor soccer within 2 years, the other within 7 years.
