CLAY CHASTAIN 'OUT OF THE CLOSET' ON KANSAS CITY ELECTION DAY!!!

Fact is, he has provided local voters just as much to think about as any local publication. And so, today Clay deserves a word and consideration . . .

Clay Chastain, "the better of the other two evils," comes out of the closet.

It is understandable that so many people (like "Super Dave" of Tony's blog fame) look at me in a "very cautious manner." That is mostly because they do not know the real me - just City Hall and the Star's version - nor do they understand what my real motivations are.

Super Dave also wondered, "does he really want to be Mayor of Kansas City?" It is time I come out of the closet and confess to being...one who does not. That is why I am running a zero-dollar campaign.

What thinking person with a happy life and a healthy ego would want to take over the reins of America's 5th most dangerous city that is also plagued with... mountains of decaying infrastructure, high taxes, high debt, greedy corporate developers and is stagnant, flat and going nowhere? Besides, I have no wish to aspire beyond my simple and peaceful life in rural Virginia raising my daughter.

But on the other hand, I cannot escape my conscience. It bothers me that the people of Kansas City, Missouri are not being offered a highly capable leader they can trust to restore the dear City where my eldest daughter and my two grand children live as well as where my beloved parents are buried. So, my on-going agenda has been to run for Mayor and use that as a platform not only to critique the City's on-going, liberal and bumbling leaders, but also to launch my ideas (that others could use) to fix our City without any expectation of winning a mayor's race.

Unlike my opponents, who are at least out there trying, I hold a unique strength of character, skill set and visionary ideas to take on (successfully) the immense challenge of straightening out our City and leading it forward. I just don't want the job, unless extraordinarily called on - much like our country's first President.

In the event, though, that the voters show up, turn a miracle and write-me in as their next Mayor I will heed their call, move back to Kansas City and lead our once beautiful livable City out of its darkness and toward a rising sun in behalf of itself and its long forgotten and suffering people - the average taxpayers of Kansas City.

    1. Why would the people of Frisco, Texas want him? He is a northern Yankee.

  4. No 2:14 just proves people do read what Dave says and respond in a sensible way unlike the hatred you throw around all the time while never making any constructive points at all.

  5. At least Clay didn't call him Stupid Dave like so many of the jackoffs around here do. Clay showed respect no doubt about that.

NOTA was the only way to vote today.

  6. He was the most qualified candidate and I would vote for him anytime, he has character and convictions and has beet treated badly by this city administration, which includes the current candidates for mayor. This city is screwed for at least the next 4 years and then it’s probably bankruptcy!

  7. The answer to the question of whether Clay actually wants a win:

Is he in Kansas City TODAY?

I suspect not. He's run this campaign from his computer because for some reason he is obsessed with the City. He is not a responsible candidate though early on, before the heavy pandering, I would've gladly voted for him. As it happened, he would say whatever he thought his current target audience wanted to hear. You want a serious campaign, stand on issues. The claiming to be a conservative was the final straw for me. He's nothing of the sort. Be a democrat, be a libertarian, so what, just be honest.

  8. I like what he says, but he's all hat and no horse. Needed to spend real time here to have a chance. Too bad.

  9. No place on the ballot to write in Clay's name, but I did anyway.
