TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! BEHIND THE SCENES: FIGHT FOR SCOTT WAGNER AS NEW KCMO CITY MANAGER RAMPS UP!!!

Our blog community of KICK-ASS KANSAS CITY INSIDERS was the FIRST to inform this town that TIME'S UP FOR CITY MANAGER TROY SCHULTE after the election. Council wants a fresh start and complaints about FAILING infrastructure are now starting to resonate given recent flooding.

And so the search is on for the new boss.

Let's not forget that the City Manager actually has more power than the Mayor or any single council member when it comes to how this town actually runs.

And so . . .

As we noted previously, insiders want former Northland Councilman Scott Wagner to take over the job of city manager. He doesn't have much experience BUT there's no denying that he has more insight into how 12th & Oak really works than anyone else. Moreover, Scott Wagner as City Manger would ensure the status quo on the 29th floor.

Sadly, without some very heavy lifting from the council, a national search for a new candidate will occur and an out-of-towner will likely take control and look to clean house.

Around KC, the outgoing 1st District dude is already enduring some criticism because the idea of Councilman Wagner as Troy Schulte's replacement is gaining traction. Some neighborhood activists are calling out his record on sketchy projects in order to sidetrack his career progress.

And so, whilst Scott Wagner as the new City Manager might be a long shot . . . The odds are still good enough to irk more than a few locals who have opposed this otherwise likeable politico's rising star.

And all of this inspires our playlist tonight . . .

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night.

  1. Not really that much of a long shot, in fact, I'd say he is probably the front runner at this point.

    1. This would be a smart move for Jolie, dumb for Quinton. Jolie Justus would win more votes if she decided to go with him over keeping Troy but Quinton is expected to shake things up. Promising a national search would be the smarter thing to do.

  6. Troy has got to go. He implemented a bunch of stupid and corrupt projects of the Council at the expense of basic services.

  7. Troy has to go as he is very high maintenance. He requires too many donuts be delivered to his office each day.

Patrick Fitzgerald and Gerald Fitzpatrick were out in full swish in the crossroads last night. Neal and Bob, not their names but what they do, were performing in a doorway.
All of them support Scott as the new city manager.

  9. Scott will run for county commissioner in 2020. And yes, he lives in the western district.

Shulte'a ego is almost as big as his waistline, so don't be shocked if this sort of speculation causes him to throw an infantile hissy fit and resign before the Election, just to "strike back" and create as much chaos as possible.

  11. heard this one too, Wagner will have to wait a year and then it's his if he wants it. Don't know why he would want to take one of the worst jobs in the area.

  12. No more Troy. Time for him to go. End of story.

  13. In 7 years as Commissioner Gene Owen hasn't accomplish anything on the commission. In 8 years on the council Wagner didn't accomplish anything. Heather Hall accompanied more in 1 term than he did in 2. Wagner = Gene Owen 2.0

  14. I think Scott's supporters make the same mistake that Donald Trump's supporters make. He's not playing four dimensional chess. That lack of transparency he exhibits is merely a crutch.
