TKC QUESTION: BLOODY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND FORESHADOWS DEADLY SUMMER 2019 AHEAD?!?!
Across the Greater Kansas City metro this has been one of the most violent Memorial Day weekends in recent memory.
Already Kansas City racked up 53 murders so far this year. There was also a murder, an officer-involved deadly shooting and triple-injury gunfire in Midtown.
What's worse is that the topic of putting more police on the street and public safety overall has been put on the back burner in the upcoming election -- Social justice, housing and development schemes have hijacked the conversation.
Yet still . . . The bodies, bullets and reports of violence keep piling up.
And so, as today marks the unofficial start of Summer, we ask our blog community:
HAS THE BLOODY START TO 2019 DOOMED KANSAS CITY TO ANOTHER HORRIFIC YEAR OF RISING HOMICIDES?!?
Fact is, we're already heading down that path and local politics and media pundits blame the public for asking questions rather than take any responsibility for the carnage.
