Bigger government to solve problems has mixed results but we can't fault the politico for at least talking about the ongoing problem that has frustrated more voters. Take a look:
Jolie Justus suggests creating department of transportation to maintain KC streets
Kansas City mayoral candidate Jolie Justus is proposing the city create its own department of transportation to help maintain city streets.Justus announced her plan during the first televised mayoral debate Monday."That's why I'm going to create, as your next mayor, a new department of transportation to make sure we're getting it right," she said.Justus said her department of transportation would not be another city office; it would coordinate the city services, such as fixing existing streets or building new ones."We don't have that right now.
Let the flim flam begin
ReplyDeleteSure she will, she's in office now and what has she done.......yup a whole lot of nothing.
ReplyDeleteThe Public Works Department provides optimal value in designing, building, operating and maintaining the City's streets, bridges, and parking infrastructure.
ReplyDeleteHas she been drinking again?
optimal value is a stretch but does she even know there is a Public Works Department?
ReplyDeleteHope she loses before she has a chance to take us all down
ReplyDeleteThe bureaucratic mind at work!
ReplyDeleteAnd a good example of what counts as a management idea from someone who has never actually managed anything and couldn't run a one-car garage.
If something or someone doesn't get the job done, then of course the solution is to create something else without eliminating either the ineffective people or organization.
What about the public works committee on the city council? What oversight or demand for accountability do they provide?
What about the "management" of the public works department? How effective (or not) are they?
Just building more unaccountable bureaucracy costs more money and does NOTHING to provide better services or hold people to account.
Justus is a clown.
She’s trying to absorb black and McDonald, can’t even hide the fact that it’s burns and McDonald subsidiary
ReplyDeleteCreate a Department of Transit, huh? Isn’t that what Public Works Department is designed to do? These dumbass politicians kill me... its no wonder she never became a practicing lawyer.
ReplyDeleteOMG what a crock!!
ReplyDeleteNo matter the name of the city deoartment in charge, the issue is money to fix the streets. There isn't enough of it. But hey we spent $102 million on 2 Miles if street car rail and look at that downtown hotel!
ReplyDeleteDepartment of TRANSPORTATION, not transit, tony. Learn to read.
ReplyDeleteWait until you see her fix for the trash service. The in-house cost will quadruple and we will be stuck with unnecessary debt service and pension costs because she didn't know to ask the right questions. She will hide for a few years, but ultimately, no one will be held accountable.
ReplyDeleteJolie eats a lot of pussy
ReplyDeleteAgree with 7:13.
ReplyDeleteWhat we have isn't working so the obviously solution is to create another department. Why not fix what we have? What is the KCMO Dept of Public Work's job/mission? Here is it from their own website:
The Public Works Department provides optimal value in designing, building, operating and maintaining the City's streets, bridges, and parking infrastructure. The mission of the Public Works Department is to provide and maintain public infrastructure and assets by ensuring safe transportation for motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists, and accessible municipal parking to serve the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri
Sounds alot like a Department of Transportation?? Except according to their website their pressing project is installing hundreds of bike racks across the city. Priorities???
Well this new department will probably need all new equipment and trucks with snazzy paint jobs and crew cab sleeping quarters, with AC of course. Oh and don't forget the new tailored uniforms and sharp hard hats to go with them. And new cones with the reflective stripes on them in rainbow colors as a salute to all of the gay employees of this new department. How much will all of that cost the tax payers or will she use (illegally) GO Bond money for it?
ReplyDeleteThey already have the money. They already have the decision making body. They just need a leader who makes better decisions.
ReplyDeleteLucas makes a great point when he highlights the fact that Jolie voted to spend $9M on a new road after they promised not to spend any of their $200M on new roads. Now she wants to spend more time and money to form a dept around making more bad decisions? Come on. Ineptitude isn't that hard Jolie.
Lucas is the smarter, more conscientious candidate.
It's more of the same ol'--
ReplyDeleteOVER PROMISE and UNDERPERFORM PANDER PLOYS OF POLITICOS!
To expand government to do what government isn't doing is par for the course.
ReplyDeleteJesus KC is Fucked. Spending is out of control and the quality of life for home owners everywhere goes down each year
