TKC MUST READ!!! KANSAS CITY CHIEFS FANS DENOUNCE KMBC FOR REVEALING PATRICK MAHOMES' NEW ADDRESS!!!

We talked about this issue of privacy yesterday and in the aftermath a legion of local football fans piled on to TV broadcasters for sharing the deets. They make a lot of the same arguments we did about the need for a bit of media restraint with the non-news. Check their worthwhile argument that seems to have 100% support from our reader community as well:

Patrick Mahomes deserves his privacy, just like anyone else

Patrick Mahomes recently bought a house. That was the news hit. On the surface, that's good news for Kansas City Chiefs fans. We all want our favorite quarterback, our MVP, our face of the franchise to make himself at home in the city. He's got national appeal.

Comments

  1. Hate to burst everyone's bubble here but the location of the new Mahomes resident is all over the internet and takes anyone a whooping 1 to 2 minutes if that to locate it. KMBC didn't do anything wrong that many others were not doing themselves.

Anytime you make a property purchase it becomes common knowledge in several locations on the internet if you know which pages to seek out.

Anyone who wanted to know which house he bought has been able to look it up since about Feb 10th of this year. Also his condo that if I remember right was shown on many sites.

Nobody has any privacy anymore and you're completely silly if you think you do.

  2. ^^^^ A good argument and very nicely articulated BUT in essence you're making the case that it's okay because everyone else is doing it. That's the reason that children offer and doesn't expect news stations to have very much responsibility or standards.

  3. What KMBC has been done is also bs for the neighborhood. Obvious media jealousy of a success story without regard for the consequences on others. KCPD will need to be there frequently and will have to deal with PC issues.

  4. Yep...He'll be in Mission Hills or Leawood within a year...

  5. Like the column, the guy should have his privacy.

Local "journalists" showing themselves to be amateurs in this case.

  9. 10:58 I'm not saying it's okay because everyone else is doing it, but to pull KMBC's name out of the hat and criticize them only for doing what many others have done as well weeks in advance is a little one sided.

I'd gather to bet fans of the Chiefs alone were the most guilty parties of spreading the location around thinking they were sharing some juicy gossip with their fellow fanatics.

  10. You're right 11:01. There'll be little trolling by Mo plated brothers and 'necks in those towns. Pretty much 0 tolerance for PC/ACLU issues over there

Some of the stalkers on this site have tried to find my address, & they only find the Pike Street address which is 13 years out of date, but a more intelligent friend of mine, instead of using google, used the search engine on this site & found my true address in the comments where I had posted it long ago, in a moment of pique.

This kind of information didn't use to be considered private. One day I had a layover in Springfield, MO of a few hours from the wee morning until the late morning, so I entered the public phone booth & looked up his address in the public phone book, & when consulting a street map posted on the wall discovered that he only lived a couple of blocks away. I had a nice visit with a life-long friend & ate a nice breakfast prepared by his new wife.

It's ironic that in the Information Age everyone is so paranoid.

  15. Getting to the bottom of Byron's "Daddy" issues would take a legion of psychologists and an exothermic torch. It is, in no way, worth the effort.

The depth of his ethnomasochistic self hatred is a tribute to the powers of the Progressive Media to influence those soft headed, wet by every rain, blown by every wind acolytes who sit in rapt attention and salute the Socialist slogans of MSNBC and elitist Thought Leaders everywhere.

Byron thinks he wants the end of the "Rule Of Law". He believes the the deal he made with the devil will spare him from the devil.

During any real violence and "war", Byron will cut and run and the Devil won't kill him last, he will kill him first.

The high point of Byron's day, is jerking off to Don Lemon.

  24. Yes 3:57 lets start with you.

  25. Typical Midwestern nice reaction, which is wrong. There is no such thing as privacy.

Every watch TMZ? Cameras are at celebrity homes, and parking garages, and restaurant valet, and checkin and baggage claim at LAX.

KMBC only filled in the blank for the lazy. Any outlet that published the square footage, sales date, or price also essentially gave everyone the address too. The listing and photos are still on every real estate site.

The bottom line is buying a house really isn't news worthy. Why does anyone cover it or care?

Now KMBC accidentally publishing Tyreek Hill's home address last week by showing a legal document as background wallpaper in a story.... where was the outrage for that?

    ReplyDelete
  26. ^^^ That's not correct. TMZ doesn't publish people's addresses and actually, other than than the tone. They're pretty tame in what they publish. Most of it is just publicity already agreed upon with the actors, musicians and public figures. It's mostly just news for show.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Mahommes should have protected his privacy by listing his property inside an llc. Silly young fellow made a huge error that way. I tried to contact the cheifs a couple of months ago when I accidentally saw the address on parcelviewer while searching a skip trace on the prior owner. What the hell, Cheifs... why don’t you mentor your peeps?...
