TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! CHAMBER & CIVIC COUNCIL STALL KANSAS CITY MAYORAL ENDORSEMENTS!!! JOLIE JUSTUS DESPERATELY SEEKING BIZ SUPPORT!!!

As the election approaches our KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS note that Kansas City big biz rank among the undecided or at least among those who don't want to take sides publicly.

To wit, as of this writing, and because everyone seems to think this vote is going to be a nail-biter close call  . . .

SHOCK!!! THE CHAMBER & CIVIC COUNCIL HAVE NOT YET ENDORSED A CANDIDATE FOR KANSAS CITY MAYOR!!!

This isn't a big deal for Quinton Lucas.

However, given Mayor Sly's support . . . The endorsement punt so far might as well be a slap in the face to Jolie Justus.

Here's the word . . .

Insiders Abandoning Jolie?

Insiders seem to be getting cold feet with their support of Jolie.

First, the KC Chamber, who are the quintessential insiders and thoroughly in the Jolie camp, are not endorsing either candidate. On top of that, I heard the Downtown Council made the same decision, and they are even deeper in Jolie's pocket.

Both of these groups are Jolie's bread and butter, and her inability to lock up their support might be writing on the wall. While not exactly a win for Lucas, both are a thorough loss for Jolie.

It seems that she's winning the pocketbooks of the establishment, but not their votes. We saw how that worked out for Miller. I expect she'll out raise Lucas, but who knows by how much at this point. Money alone won't win this race, and it seems she's losing ground with the establishment.
#############

You decide . . .

  1. From the earlier post today, it's pretty obvious they they have both candidates in their pocket. But with Sly's support the chamber shouldn't be a contest. Strange that they're not standing up for her. I guess they don't want to go with the losing side.

    1. The polling is correct. She's behind and it doesn't make sense for big business to support her now. That's just digging their grave when Quinton wins, because he already seems very hostile to business. They're going to have to find a way to mend fences.

    2. Jolie +7 people just don't want Quinton to be KC's occassio cortez.

  2. ^^^^^^^^ Nope.

I think people want a change. KC doesn't need another 4 years of Sly James policy.

  3. ^^^^ Well, that's exactly what we're going to get with either one of these corrupt asswipes!

  7. I, like most other KC residents, don't want a mayor. We showed it doesn't work in a town like KC

  8. The KC Chamber & Civic Council do not have time for choosing a side nonsense as they are too busy planning Slie's going away party. They want to see Slie in a wetsuit being chased by the Japanese whaling fleet.

  11. For the chamber to endorse someone would mean the chamber leader has the balls to do it.

  12. Quite sure both candidates don't concern themselves with the opinions of a bunch of retards like you people.

  13. This isn't quite as bad as the race between S'lie and Mike Jerk. But it's in the ballpark. Back then, no matter who won between those 2, it was going to be tax/borrow/spend.

Lucas talks a big game, and he may indeed be slightly different. But this city doesn't need "a little bit of change". It needs a rather significant amount of change as this city is just barreling further and further into debt. On top of the FACT that we are being taxed to death in order to make up for the massive amounts of corporate welfare we've given out over the years in addition to the fact that our elected officials are greedy bastards who have little regard for the working class and owned by their greedier corporate masters.

Don't believe me? Look at how the city assessed the value of the Plaza. Millions of dollars less than what it should have been valued at. Which saved the owners of the plaza millions of dollars. Dollars that should have been going to city coffers to finance basic services.

Want more proof? That nice hotel that's going up across the street from the tax payer paid ballroom...guess how much the city is kicking in for that. About $135 million dollars made up from cash, TIF, abatements and other financial incentives. Seems fair, right?

On the flip, the city passed an $800 million dollar GO-Bond to fund infrastructure. The city renewed another $300 million dollar infrastructure bond. Then we passed the MCPL Libriary tax, the KCPL Library tax, the Buck O'Neill Bridge tax, the East Side improvement tax, and on and on and on. Seems we sure do make sure the rich/corporations get all kinds of tax breaks and money from the city yet our city keeps adding to our financial burdens...but those are our trusted officials. And I doubt much will change regardless of who wins this election. It's a choice of choosing the lesser of two evils.

This city is doomed. If the denizens of this city don't kill each other, the local officials will drive it into bankruptcy.

  21. Nothings changed...

"The reason that no one is discussing the issues that are important to the city or the 3rd District is that most of the candidates and elected folks really don't know or particularly care about local issues and don't get involved enough to make any serious and well-informed recommendations. KCMO has an amateurish political class whose primary activity is to run for one office or another, schmooze each other and their friends and supporters, find jobs in nonprofits or local government, and then run for something else. Look at the clueless group on the council public safety committee, which doesn't even know enough about programs that they approve money for to ask any serious questions about how the money's spent or why the crime numbers don't change in spite of all the claims and cash. How about candidates with some specific ideas about what city government actually does?"

  26. At the end of the day, it doesn't make any difference which one of these clowns prevails in the election.
They're both cut from the same tired mold of candidates who endlessly show up in KCMO and Jackson County.
10:32 am hit the nail on the head.
NONE of these folks has any appreciation or understanding of municipal government or even a passing interest in what their responsibilities as elected city officials might be.
And either of these two will be sat down in the Chamber board room after the election and given their marching orders, just has taken place for many many years.
    It never changes.
The election is a very sad joke.

  30. The Chamber is a laughing stock letting these two candidates take the reins with no other option. You mean these two are the considered opinion choices of the business sponsors of the Chamber.

The entrenched and mediocre just breathed a sigh of relief. Average citizen
now has to listen to contrived agenda instead of just running the city world class and modern businesslike fashion. That means their streets and neighborhoods are not the priority.
