TKC BREAKING NEWS MUST SEE!!! SOUTH KANSAS CITY POLITICAL COMIC SPARKS ANGER AMONG COUNCIL CONTENDERS!!!

Behind the scenes of the current KCMO silly season, art and politics have ignited a debate over civility and decorum for the remainder of the election cycle.

To wit . . .

OF COURSE THE POLITICAL CARTOON MOCKING 6TH DISTRICT AT-LARGE CONTENDER ANDREA BOUGH IS HILARIOUS!!! BUT IS IT FAIR!?!?

First and foremost, we offer a better view of the provocative image that's inspiring conversation among insiders and local activists . . . Take a look:

Last year TKC BROKE FIRST NEWS about Andrea Bough's candidacy and predicted that the connection to her federal judge hubby might be a problem.

Basically (and obviously), the comic highlights a concern that Fed Judge Bough will be calling the shots on the KCMO Council if his wife is elected.

Illustrated winding her up . . . Steve Bough is a longtime denizen of the KCMO political scene and he's now a federal judge despite a great deal of GOP opposition.

Close KC political watchers remember that Steve Bough and former Jackson County Exec Mike Sanders seemed tight during public events. It's doubtful that they talk much anymore given that Mr. Sanders is busy doing time in the federal pen.

The ad is clearly marked as "paid for by" Stacey Johnson-Cosby. The local biz lady isn't kidding around with her campaign strategy and this image was successful in generating controversy.

Ms. Johnson-Cosby is trailing Andrea Bough after the primary and it's clear she has nothing to lose with the hard-hitting mockery.

Credit where it's due . . . TKC always fears that clowning a federal judge is like asking for a ticket to Guantanamo Bay.

Subsequently . . .

Behind the scenes, insiders reveal that Andrea Bough is livid about the depiction and has cried foul to several politico friends and camapign supporters. Her objections were discussed at last night's 4th District forum where the candidates seemed exceptionally snippy as well.

And now, with most of the background out of the way we ask our blog community . . .

THE COMIC IS FUNNY BUT IS IT FAIR?!?!? DOES ANDREA BOUGH DESERVE CRITICISM ABOUT HER FED JUDGE HUBBY?!?

Brief TKC aside . . . The campaign attack might be a blessing in disguise as now Ms. Bough can certainly claim she earned her (potential) victory in a rhetorical trial-by-fire if she manages to pull out a win.

Meanwhile, the tough tactics remind us that this 2019 election season is now, FINALLY, starting to get real.

Developing . . .

  1. Somebody had to call her out on it. She can't expect to walk right into office without any challenge.

  2. Seen worse but usually in national campaigns, skc politics usually doesn't get to feisty but that's not a good thing. There just isn't a lot of action or interest for this race so whatever the candidates need to do to get some recognition, you can't really blame them.

  3. Um, right now all I am concerned about is wondering if ms johnson Crosby has a nice booty. Does she have a Instagram? I’m just sayin...we need confirmation.

  6. It's a conflict of interest!

  7. John Sharp and his girlfriend Elsun Tucker have been smearing Stacey for over a year. I think Stacey has some restraining orders against them for pushing her sister. For some reason the media protects John Sharp.

  8. That’s funny as fuck. Bough needs to realize politics isn’t the same as some bullshit women’s club. Being the wife of a pussy liberal federal judge, she should know that.

  9. If the white lady did that to that black lady, that would be racist, she’s an idiot anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Andrea was at Southern Communities Coalition candidate forum and she did not know anything. Stacey is all about Stacey but Andrea makes Stacey acceptable.

  11. Andrea, the judge's wife...she's got "big tits"...I'm votein' for her...

  12. The bigger question is do either of these ladies really belong in office?

Looks like a write in for none of the above to me.

  13. Looks like Bough likes the Kansas side of things better.

Bough is a member of the Lewis Rice’s Real Estate Department. She has extensive experience in economic development; land use, planning, and zoning; and subdivision regulations. She previously served as special zoning council for the City of Fairway, KS Board of Zoning Appeals and Planning Commission, legal counsel for the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Planning Commission for the City of Mission Hills, KS, and legal counsel for the Planning Commission for the City of Roeland Park, KS.

  14. Stacey Johnson-Cosby is a John Sharp draftee whose husband is a part of that water dept that is milking the residents of Kansas City dry.

The big question folks should be asking is why is Stacey Johnson-Cosby a realtor? Do a little digging here folks the results will surprise you.

  15. 8:03.... You have no idea what you are talking about. John Sharp is responsible for all the negative campaigning against Stacey and for that reason you should be scared about Andrea. Her appointments came from Scott Taylor. For the record, her husband is retired from the Water Dept.

  16. Stacey Johnson-Cosby along with John Sharp, she formed the South Kansas City Alliance, a coalition of neighborhood organizations, non-profits, and business leaders that she describes as “an effective link between government, neighborhoods, businesses, developers, and economic development engines.”

DeWayne Cosby retired after collecting a check for years for doing nothing. Safety officer my ass. After the wife gets in office if she does he will get another cushy job in the city and try to suck another over paid job and retirement pay out from.

  18. Has Bough ever been East of Troost???

  19. Didn't trigger any emotional response but a good post if you don’t mind your IQ dropping several levels.

  20. If you drew the same cartoon with a Black Woman and some Nigger Preacher turning the key, you might be called a racist.

  21. The Black biotch be cray cray, I’m serious, she’s as ghetto as they come, seen her speaking, or uttering Ebonics or whatever it’s called to some other blacks and it was straight outta killa shifty language. It was ugly so expect to be severely disappointed when she gets elected.

  22. No matter who you vote for it is not going to change anything. If you vote for the judges wife the judge will influence the agenda but from his bedroom. If you vote for Johnson-Cosby the judge will run the agenda from his courtroom. This is a no win situation for the citizens of Kansas City. Either way you have a court making decisions that they should not have any say in the outcome.

  23. Cosby has been getting funding from the city for these programs she’s been running, isn’t that a conflict of interest???

    ReplyDelete
  24. ^^^ if she wins won’t that be double dipping?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hey stupid dave, go mind your own business! You don't even live here loser!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think it's effective. She is not entitled to a council job. What has she done?

    ReplyDelete
  27. ^^^^ Nothing. She's getting the job because she is someone's wife.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Dirty politics is par for the course in KC

    ReplyDelete
  29. ^^^^ Not dirty, effective. There is a BIG difference.

    ReplyDelete
  30. It's all for naught. This women is not going to win and in the future she'll be known for campaigning dirty. That's not a good reputation to have and it's something that will limit her future opportunities in politics and maybe other places. You always have to think carefully before you pull this kind of stunt and I'm not sure if she did. It won't lead to a win and will not get her any real traction in other parts of her career. A dumb move really.

  31. 1:32 how bout you STFU loser!

  32. Vote for Andrea "Bim"Bough The Stepford Candidate.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Andrea knows absolutely NOTHING but somehow she got a ton of endorsements. Oh I forgot her federal judge husband was the head of the Jackson County Democrat Party. I guess he called in a few favors.
She even got Freedom Incs.- even though she's never been east of Troost in her life. Well maybe if elected she can get Nell Hill to open in The Landing and that'll encourage her and her socialite friends to jump across Troost once in a while.

  34. Never understood why we have "at large" candidates. It's a questionable position at best and bough seems to have very little qualifications.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Better slogan: So no to Bough!

    ReplyDelete
  36. It is particularly disheartening to see this kind of sexist attack being made by one woman against another woman. Women candidates – from Margaret Thatcher to Claire McCaskill to Hillary Clinton – have all had to put up with unfair claims that somehow their husbands told them what to do and how to do it. It is bad enough when it is a male sexist fantasy theme; it is worse when used by a female who should know better.

Now both of these women have experience and qualifications. Stacy's have been more visible, while Andrea obviously has a deep understanding of the inner legal workings of the city. They bring different strengths – and each of them deserves to be judged on her own abilities not prejudge based on some sexist stereotype.

Wasn't it Hillary who stated that women voted the way their husbands told them in the 2018 election?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Excellent concern 3:50, but still true. As a feminist myself, I just want to know are they swallowers or spitters?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Stacy’s bad cartoon and rude Facebook posts are in keeping with her Trump Republicanism. She hides it by calling herself an independent. The 6th district needs an intelligent, compassionate person in office, and Johnson-Cosby is not that person. Rise above petty politics.
