SUPER DAVE TALKS KCMO ELECTIONS AND THE DEATH OF REAL LEADERSHIP!!!

SUPER DAVE SAYS: NO CONFIDENCE IN KANSAS CITY ELECTED OFFICIALS

Sadly to say there’s nobody worth voting for in the upcoming election. I mean, come on, is this the best that Kansas City can do?

When big companies like Amazon/Microsoft/Starbucks -- operated by real leaders -- Look for places to go for their national headquarters do you really think that Kansas City would impress them? I live in the area and even I am not impressed, so how do you think it looks to an outsider? Can you imagine Jolie Justus sitting down trying to have a one-on-one conversation with people like Bill Gates? Kansas City, Missouri residents are getting set up to have their city not only miserably operated but also heading towards more disastrous financial obligations. And possibly bankruptcy by the end of the next four years. Oh, I’m sure some of you are going to tell me I’m very wrong, stupid and everything else but that’s okay, it doesn’t bother me one bit because I know I am not the one who is stupid here. It’s not been my voting that has installed the leaders over the past few years into Kansas City government; it’s those of you who point fingers at me and call me stupid that have done such.

Maybe it’s time for a new law to go into effect requiring a certain percentage of votes based on the actual number of registered voters in a given district. IF that threshold is not achieved, a candidate cannot be put into office. Then, at least 52% of the registered voters are required to vote or an election of any kind is deemed invalid. While you’re at it the voters should also demand that any city financed TIFs or bonds or operated services such as mass transportation of any kind for the residents of said city should have to be approved by all residents of the city. That's one way to get rid of special interest groups: Eliminate special interest districts. The 18th and Vine district for instance, the voters should be allowed to decide if the city will continue to provide any funding: Any bets on what the outcome of that vote would be citywide?

The lack of people showing up at the polls may be a clear sign that there's nobody worth voting for . . .

The "none of the above box" is something I think should be on every ballot for the voters to voice an opinion of NO CONFIDENCE. The city and its crooked leaders are making it very clear they don’t want you to have the option of a write-in vote. They are forcing you to vote for a select few who are not qualified, in my opinion, to be a school crossing guard. Is politics so bad in Kansas City that real leaders are so disgusted with it they want nothing to do with the obvious political shenanigans? Another reason for poor turnout is that when the voters approve something they are ignored or the voting is so rigged the outcome is obviously been manipulated by the city and its special interest groups.

Maybe it’s time that the city goes to a full time mayor and council with an adequate pay, not outrageous and stupid salaries but livable salaries with two term limits for its leaders required to clock in and out same as anyone else. By doing this maybe people will be elected who can apply their full attention to operating the city as it should be. When you have elected officials who consider their position a part-time job and are always out doing other things to supplement their income, working for the voters who put them into office will not always be on the top of their list of things to do. Take current candidate running for mayor Quinton Lucas -- Is he going to give up his teaching job at KU? Running a city or any government is not a job for the village idiot or the village bully or even the most popular person in town. It’s a job for people who have demonstrated real leadership, know how to negotiate build and operate a city that benefits its residents and not the select few whose hands are under the table . . . The people of Kansas City have been sold out to the highest bidders and most of the time those bidders probably don’t even live here in KC, don’t ever pay taxes in KC and don’t want their children living in KC but are more and willing to take all of your tax dollars home with them.

What’s lacking in local politics is simply REAL leadership. When you elect a person to fill a powerful office, you’re electing a leader, a person that’s going to guide the city, state or country in a proper manner that develops growth, provides infrastructure, while making the residential streets and commercial areas safe for everyone. Not everybody can be a leader and that’s the real problem in today’s government. What we have is no real leaders. Instead, all we have is a bunch of special interest dummies that do nothing but cater to the patrons who got them elected and disrupt the real operation of a government.

  1. Nice job Dave. A great consideration of how our this election looks to REAL people in KC. Not just the campaign workers and consultants who crowd local message boards.

  2. Amazon/Microsoft/Starbucks -- operated by real leaders

How much did you drink before penning this Dave? Quart of Vodka?

  3. ^^^^ So you saying idiots built those companies?

  4. What Dave is trying to say is the only issue we have is that a handful of highly competitive, highly sociopathic and incredibly mediocre people have all the power to build our future for us with virtually no input from anyone else.

  5. Inane and incomprehensible, Stupor Dave. As always.

  6. What Amazon is doing was usually the work of the lowest savage tribes and the vilest cults. The techniques aren’t new. They’re as evil and old as time itself.

  7. I think Jolie would be better as mayor of a smaller town. Same with Lucas. KCMO doesnt need more of the same ol.

  8. There's plenty of leadership in KCMO.
It's just that none of it resides at city hall or the Jackson County courthouse.
And much of it in the business and legal communities is self-serving and not at all in the public interest.
But there are lots of small businesses, real nonprofits, people in the faith community, and neighborhood folks who provide real servant leadership every day.
They're not marching around making demands, or dialing for dollars at city hall, or pushing their way onto the 5:00 local television news.
Just the difference between big talking and actual caring and progress.
Too bad it's lost so often in all the glitz.

  9. KCMO is a sleezy murderous shit hole. Whatever good Karma KCMO had in the bank to get it through tough times isn't there anymore and I'm not real optimistic about the future.

    Me either!

  11. Don't worry. Sly will be advising either Justus or Lucas.. a"fatherly figure" from his new new office at POLSINELLI.

  13. There's a logic today that places a greater value on celebrity the less it is accompanied by actual achievement. I don't think it's possible to touch people's imagination today by aesthetic means.

  15. I'm not sure if you meant it or not, it may have simply come through in typing the facts, but this post was extremely pro-Lucas.

Sometimes our biases become outweighed by what we know is right, and other times we simply cannot resist the urge to pick the winning side. Whichever it is, even if he has to hold his nose while he casts his vote for mayor, it's clear that...

    Super Dave favors Lucas!

  16. I'll give you two choices, Larson, if you don't like living here.

    Move.

    Die.

    We'd like the latter.

    ReplyDelete
  17. ^^^^^^You move I'd rather like seeing Dave run for Mayor.

9:45 learn to read, just yesterday Dave said Lucas is clueless so that isn't showing support at all.

  18. Great column Dave, well done.

  19. Here's what's great about Dave's column, it's not just complaining but some suggestions about how to make voters more involved and get people to have a stake in their Democracy. That's important but it's a shame that a lot of elected officials don't want to hear it.

People who won't run for elected office complaining about the quality of people running for elected office?

    Yeah, that'll work.

File as a candidate, or STFU.

  22. ^^^^^^^No you go away STFU and stay out of our business asshole. So Glorias next book spills the true beans on you is what I hear. Thats should be good reading I might even have to buy one to see that public humiliation you will get. Oh paybacks can be such a bitch.
